Black Pro Athletes Prefer White Women Because They Let Them Cheat in Peace?
The World, According to Charleston White…
Photo by Tim Mossholder on Unsplash
I'm not going to lie; I literally hate to discuss interracial dating as it pertains to Black men and White women.
The societal stereotype that asserts all Black women are jealous of White women who date Black men has been enough to cause me to remain mostly silent on the topic.
Nevertheless, occasionally, I see something so interesting that I can't help but chime in.
Enter Charleston White…
If you're not yet familiar with the horrible personality that is Charleston White, well, lucky you! Honestly, I don't want to promote his ridiculous rhetoric any more than I have to. Suffice it to say, I'm not a fan.
Either way, he said something recently that struck a chord with me, and the reason is that it's a thought that I've entertained in the past many times: the notion that certain Black men choose to date White women because they believe they're pushovers. He said this while also insinuating that Black women are basically penis-obsessed idiots incapable of playing the role wealthy men require.
But I don't want to put words in his already tainted mouth; listen to him with your own ears below:
On the one hand, he's complimenting White women by asserting that they are often married to wealthy Black men because they have the mental capacity to help them build their empires.
On the other hand, he's also insulting them by insinuating that they allow their men to cheat and basically do whatever they want, as long as they do their part in terms of taking care of them and the household.
At the same time, of course, he's also attacking Black women by spreading the myth that we're too emotional or even delusional to deal with wealthy men. And lastly, if they care, this is also a slight towards successful athletes, as he is undoubtedly insinuating that none of them are capable of being faithful. He also asserts they are bereft of being truthful and creating genuinely meaningful relationships with their partners.
And now that I've aired my grievances, let's unpack this.
About White Women
If you recall, I spoke extensively about always having friends of all races. This isn't an "all lives matter" moment; instead, I just said that to say that I've known plenty of White women on a personal level, so I'm not one to feed into stereotypes.
Read more about my experiences with race and friendship here:
Now, is it true that some White women fit this description? Of course! But it's also true that women of every race fit this persona as well. But, on the whole, are all White women docile, passive pushovers who let their men do whatever they want while being the best little soldiers and keeping the house together? Hell no! I mean, are you serious?!
If you're tapped into celebrity news, White women who are married or involved with wealthy men get divorced all the time, and the splits are often far from amicable. So, I mean, I guess it's OK if men want to believe this, but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that it's often not the case.
