Bisou’s Birthday Party, Oregonian Colored Leaves, A “Girlie” Luncheon, and Uma and Emerson’s Adoption Day Anniversary

A week or so in photos

My baby boy, Bisou, turned seven last week and we had a “kitty birthday party.” Yes, that is catnip on his forehead. After a full evening of freshly-cooked wild caught halibut, new toys and lots of playtime with his sisters, Uma and Freyja, and his brother, Emerson, he “left it all on the dance floor” and retired to his favorite lounging spot for a nap with one of his new fluffy toys.

This is Bisou demonstrating his extaordinary tree-climbing skills. I planted this bird of paradise over twenty years ago and it has grown from a two-gallon pot to this grand arching cat-climbing paradise. It’s been fun to watch it “follow the light” over the years. The branch Bisou is on reaches in the opposite direction from all of the other branches (which anchor and balance the weight of the plant) and has grown into the path of the sun.

We flew to Portland just ahead of the “bomb cyclone” storm last week for my sister’s 50th birthday. The leaves were in full glory everywhere, until the rain started and the leaves began to melt into fiery puddles on the ground.

My sister handed out “tattoos” at her party. I chose the “I believe in unicorns” one.

I was way-laid with the flu (fortunately it was not a break-through COVID case) for several days after we returned, so I’m covering more than a week of photos here.

After I recovered, two of my besties and I had a “girlie luncheon” in the garden. I pulled out the good china and we dined on homemade broccoli and cheese soup, a lovely salad and these cute little breads shaped like turtles.

The kitty festivities continued with Uma and Emerson’s 7th adoption day celebration. I can’t believe it’s been that long since these little furballs appeared in my life.

And I will leave you with one last shot of the Birthday Boy.
