Bisou, the Soft-Focus Kitty

Summer Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shine!”

Bisou glows golden in the sunlight.

We’ve always called our Bisou the “soft-focus kitty” because his outer layer of fur (he’s part Maine Coon and has two layers of fur) is so fine and golden that he just glows when the sunlight hits him.

I’ve been spending a lot of time this week trying to finish up our new “Garden in the Sky” — transforming a balcony off of my yoga room into a kitty paradise. We installed some special netting to keep them contained, and I’ve been up to my elbows in dirt with all of the planting and potting I’ve been doing.

In this photo, Bisou has just ventured out to explore the changes that happened in his new garden today. If his expression is a little wild, it’s because he just imbibed in a little catnip.

Those catnip pots are the very first thing that Bisou, Freyja, and Uma check out when they begin their circumambulation of the perimeter. I’m also growing a pot full of oat grass that is just starting to sprout.

I’m currently relaxing in the late afternoon sun, watching the babies enjoy the last embers of the summer day, and hoping that my honey, who has disappeared into the house, is opening a bottle of wine — that’s my speculation anyway. Sounds like a pretty good Friday night to me!

Thank you Mary Chang Story Writer for the writing prompt.
