Biden Makes Gaffes
So what?
I keep reading and hearing people carping on Biden’s gaffes. [sigh] So what? They’re not new. He’s always made them. He just wasn’t at the mic every day before. I see folks asking, “Who’s really in charge?” [phwh] 🙄

Biden is in charge.
He’s in charge and getting on with the job. When he makes a gaffe, he doesn’t send his people out there to flog “alternative facts.” He never sent anyone out to talk about his crowd sizes. He’s not taking time for nursing his ego or hurt feelings all the time, like the last guy. Neither is Biden making his staff regurgitate every perceived insult at news conferences while refusing to address the actual issues. Biden isn’t going on the opinion talk shows to rant about perceived slights.
Biden is in charge. We know this because the things he promised he would try to do in the job are getting done. And, here’s a list of some of his achievements:
- He united the free world. Does anyone recall how frayed and tattered our alliances were after four years of Trump’s non-stop chipping away at them? Can you imagine the free world being brought together to stand unified against Russia by Trump? Biden did that. Not only did he unite the free world against Putin’s Russia, but he has also held that unity unwaveringly together.
- There are so many folks opining that Biden didn’t get his Build Back Better (BBB) agenda passed. Did he screw up his face, go home and do nothing? No. He’s getting done what can get done. His administration passed the biggest infrastructure measure since FDR. How many “infrastructure weeks” ran out under Trump with nothing achieved? Biden’s infrastructure bill included more climate-sensitive investments in the grid, EV charging infrastructure, wind farms, and solar investments than since we began trying to address these issues. And, the administration is still trying to find a path to the BBB.
- Biden promised an administration that looks like America — and he’s delivered so far. His Cabinet is actually more diverse even than Obama’s had been. He also signed an executive order expanding diversity in Federal employment. For more on that, I encourage readers to study this NPR report.
- Biden shored up Obamacare2022 and brought down premiums, and covered millions more Americans — my little family’s premiums were cut to a third of what we were paying. For more, read Healthline.
- He’s made broadband not only more accessible but free or reduced for low-income families — which again, includes my own. See if you qualify on the FCC.gov website.
- More than six million jobs were created in his first year and we now have the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years.
- His administration reduced deficit spending $360 billion from Trump’s.
- The administration lifted millions of children out of poverty and is fighting to keep those child tax credits responsible in place.
- He’s had more lower court judges confirmed than any president since JFK (granted, that’s because Trump couldn’t be bothered with filling vacancies… but, still).
Every one of those achievements are things he said he would try to do. But sure… he’s prone to gaffes so he must be failing somehow. I agree that Biden is by no means perfect. Are there things he does or hasn’t done that makes me angry? You bet. Sure… there are a lot of things I wish he would do differently or do more of, or do better, or implement faster. The real focus though should be that he is trying and it is working.
Please, let's not be drawn into the right-wing lie that Biden is incapacitated or incompetent. As always, they’re pushing a lie of which their own guy is demonstrably guilty.
