Why I’ll vote for Joe and Kamala
The election has been on my mind for months. I’m sure it is on yours, too, as we move into the final 50 days.
The other day a friend asked me why I would vote for Biden. After giving it some thought, I came up with a list of reasons. Perhaps you’ll agree with some of what I want in a President and that we don’t have in the present POTUS.
- I want someone who will work to unite rather than divide.
- I want someone whom I can believe.
- I want someone with an ego that isn’t the size of the known universe and in constant need of being pumped up.
- I want someone who doesn’t think he is smarter than everyone else while proving he is stupider than the average 5th grader.
- I want a President who does not talk and act like a school yard bully.
- I want a President who can speak intelligently and has better than a 5th grade vocabulary, who can form superlatives, when necessary, without putting “very, very” in front of the adjective.
- I want a President who will build bridges, not walls, literal and figuratively.
- I want someone who will not spend us into bankruptcy (Trumps good at filing bankruptcy; he’s done it 6 times.)
- I want a President who will accept that we live in a global world and that the USA is not the center of the universe. We have to work together with other countries for the good of all.
- I want a President who is not a racist and who does not cater to the interests of white supremacists.
- I want a President who doesn’t want to be a dictator (check out the number of Executive Orders Trump has signed compared to other Presidents.)
- I want a President who is not a fascist who wants to run the nation’s businesses from Washington, as Trump proved he does in ordering GM to build ventilators. He loves bossing people around. For him it is my way or the highway.
- I want a President who won’t cater to the NRA and bow before their lobby — we need effective gun control, especially of automatic weapons, to stem violence.
- I want a President who has empathy and is capable of compassion.
- I want a President who knows how to work effectively with others to get legislation passed.
- I want a President who surrounds himself with good people, not crooks and criminals.
- I want a President who doesn’t think that religion is a photo op where you stand in front of a church and hold a Bible in the air after pushing peaceful protesters out of the way.
- I want a President who brings peace to our cities, not the looting and rioting that have been spawned under Trump.
- I want a President who will allow free trade and not build artificial tariff barriers that hurt our consumers and farmers and cause international tension and reprisals.
- I want a President who will work to improve our immigration laws not erect barbed wire fences and work to deport Dreamers.
- I want a President who is not Xenophobic.
- I want a President who is not a misogynist, but is someone who respects women and doesn’t brag about being able to grab them by their you know what.
- I want a President who’s loyal and hasn’t been married 3 times.
- I want a President who thinks John McCain was a war hero, not one who was a draft dodger with bone spurs.
- I want a President who appreciates the hurt Gold Star families have endured and doesn’t attack them.
- I want a President who READS and understands the briefings he’s given, not one who gets his information from Fox and Friends.
- I want a President who doesn’t endorse conspiracy theories and call honest journalism ‘fake news’.
- I want a President who sides with US intelligence not a Russian dictator.
- I want a President who acknowledges that Russia (and others) are trying to interfere with our elections and takes steps to prevent it.
- I want a President who recognizes the fact that WWIII will likely be fought in cyberspace, indeed already is being fought there. And rather than wasting time and effort on a Space Force, will establish a covert cyber force.
- I want a President whose morals are such that he doesn’t need a team of lawyers to protect him from numerous claims of sexual misconduct.
- I want a President who doesn’t consider the Attorney General’s office his own personal legal team.
- I want a President who respects the FBI and allows them to do their job uninhibited.
- I want a President who works hard and doesn’t take hundreds of trips at taxpayer expense to golf almost every weekend.
- I want a President who tells the truth more often than not.
- I want a President who does not tweet his every stupid thought.
- I want a President who takes his job seriously and focuses on important matters rather than Tweeting inane nonsense at all hours of the day and night.
- I want a President who doesn’t practice nepotism.
- I want a President who attends church and has a faith that guides him.
- I want a President who reads the Bible, not one who holds it up as a prop for a photo op.
- I want a President who knows how to hire good people and who doesn’t delight in saying “You’re Fired.”
- I want a President who has not only read but studied the US Constitution, knows what it says, and abides by it.
- I want a President who knows the law and doesn’t consider himself above it.
- I want a President who doesn’t mock the disabled.
- I want a President who can listen to criticism and not feel he has to attack the person criticizing.
- I want a President who doesn’t say one thing one day and just the opposite the next day. (Most recently Trump said, on tapes made public by Woodward and the Washington Post, that he downplayed the seriousness of the Coronavirus. Then, on ABC during a Town Hall, he said he had NOT downplayed it but had actually “up-played” it in terms of actions he’d taken! He even said he didn’t say he had downplayed it, when, as with so many of his lies, the truth is there on tape showing him lying.)
- I want a President who will work to reduce racism in this country. Biden has already proven he will do that by selected Kamala Harris as his running mate.
- I want a President who is not so stupid that he thinks the solution to preventing forest fires is to rake the forests. Forest management is not the problem. Climate Change is.
- I want a President who believes in science and believes that Climate Change is real and will take steps to counter it.
- I want a President who doesn’t think the Coronavirus will just “disappear,” but will listen to the medical experts and take appropriate steps to combat it.
- I want a President who will listen to the scientists at the FDA and CDC and not try to control and manipulate them to further his own political interests.
- I want a President who will work with and support the World Health Organization, not withdraw from it.
- I want a President who supports our NATO Allies.
- I want a President who takes responsibility rather than one who seeks to affix blame on others for his own mistakes.
- I want a President who doesn’t think the news media is the enemy, though I can understand why he believes they are. He can’t stand it when they catch him in his lies and distortions and call him on them.
I think we’ll get all that and more with Biden/Harris. I just hope they are up to the task of restoring this country and getting our government working again after the mess Trump has made. I understand there are still thousands of unfilled jobs and that many agencies have been limping along without key positions being filled, such as head of the Census Bureau at a time when the census is being taken and head of the National Park Service.
I think Biden/Harris will win because there are a lot of Hillary voters who are really unhappy about what happened to her and will swing to support Harris. Also, I think most if not all of the Sanders voters will support them. I think Biden will get the Black/Hispanic vote as well as the LGBQT vote.
In addition to that, I think there are more sane people who see Trump for the lying would-be dictator he is and will step up, people who recognize the danger he is. I also think there are a lot of Republicans who will support Biden even though they won’t say so publicly.
As Bob Woodward said. Trump is the wrong person for the job. And, as John Bolton said, he’s unfit for office. Rex Tillerson, the former Secretary of State, reportedly said privately that he was a moron. Publicly, he said Trump was undisciplined and didn’t read much of anything.

This election really is about reclaiming the soul of this country. Biden has the honesty, compassion and experience to get us back on track as a nation. That’s why I say
