The article discusses the potential negative impact of President Joe Biden's labeling of Vladimir Putin as a war criminal on the de-escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Abstract
In recent communications regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war, President Joe Biden referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a war criminal, a move that may not contribute to de-escalation. The article suggests that such strong rhetoric could exacerbate tensions rather than promote diplomatic solutions. It notes the absence of Western leaders offering peaceful resolutions and highlights the rising tensions in Europe, with increasing refugee numbers and soaring prices. The author points out the ineffectiveness of sanctions on Putin personally and questions the consistency of calling out past military interventions by other world leaders. The Kremlin's response to Biden's statement as unacceptable is mentioned, along with the ongoing war efforts, including the reported killing of a fourth Russian general by Ukrainian forces, specifically the far-right Azov Battalion. The article emphasizes the widespread desire for peace among both Ukrainian and Russian civilians, as evidenced by a viral TikTok video showing friendly interactions between soldiers of the opposing forces.
Opinions
The author believes that Biden's labeling of Putin as a war criminal is not conducive to de-escalating the conflict.
There is a perception that Western leaders, including those from the United Nations, the United States, and the European Union, are not actively pursuing diplomatic solutions to end the war.
The article implies that sanctions against Russia may not be effective in deterring Putin, who is characterized as unconcerned about materialistic consequences.
The author suggests that Putin's view of Western civilization as decadent and materialistic contrasts with his portrayal of Russians as patriots, distinguishing them from those he labels as traitors.
The piece argues that aggressive war rhetoric could provoke Putin, who is in control of Russia's nuclear arsenal, potentially leading to catastrophic consequences.
It is noted that despite the war rhetoric, there is an actual war being fought, with Ukraine actively resisting and even claiming the lives of Russian generals.
The author highlights the paradox of the Azov Battalion, a far-right group labeled as Nazis, fighting against Russian forces.
The article concludes with a strong assertion that the people of Ukraine and Russia do not desire this war, implying that the conflict is being driven by Putin alone.
Biden Calling Putin a War Criminal Isn’t the Best Way to De-escalate the Conflict
I’ll let you guys decide if that’s justified or not (I think it is) but this perhaps wasn’t Biden’s best action so far.
He’s said a lot of stupid things that we don’t like, but this one’s dangerous.
Let’s say we’re going to call every world leaders, current, and from the past, that has invaded countries which they called ‘peace missions’, a war criminal — there will a couple of them that are still having big money public functions.
U.S. Presidents are familiar with sending some choppers to the Middle East to bring ‘Democracy’.
Since the end of the Cold War, we haven’t seen the likes of this war in the Western World — at least not so close.
Most people reading this article are probably in the United States, but the tension in Europe is rising. Lots of refugees coming into our countries and all prices are going through the ceiling.
But I haven’t noticed a single signal of the Western leaders from the United Nations, the United States, nor the European to de-escalate this situation by offering diplomatic solutions.
The only thing I seem to spot is war rhetoric.
Things like putting Putin on his knees isn’t really going to work, those sanctions put on the Russian economy isn’t really going to hurt Vladimir himself, he doesn’t care.
Putin told us that he thinks Western Civilization is mostly too materialistic — I don’t think Russians consider themselves being materialistic
Calling Someone a War Criminal Doesn’t Calm a Dictator Down
You don’t have to be the brightest mind around to understand that once you’re going to call someone a war criminal, justified or not, that’s only going to make the situation worse.
The Kremlin has responded to Biden that it is unacceptable that a US President says something like that.
Russian sources tell us that the military has never had civilian targets in this war against Ukraine — which means, according to them, this has nothing to do with War Crimes.
Let’s try this.
We see Putin as a madman, let’s treat him like one — you shouldn’t go as hard in the fight as he does because he will try to obliterate you.
Treat him like he’s a fool.
You don’t want him to use Russia’s nuclear weapons to end this conflict, because then we’re all involved, and the world isn’t going to look pretty after a nuclear war.
Series of Killed Russian Generals
Besides that the war rhetoric of the world leaders is keeping us busy, there is still an actual war going on and Ukraine is fighting back — they’re not surrendering, and they hope to come out on top of this battle.
Although it seems impossible, but the Russian troops aren’t infinite.
The Azov Battalion, a far right organization, killed him, which are basically Nazis — it’s a voluntary organization, but in situations like wars and conflicts, these battalions get ready to fight.
We don’t want this war. The Ukrainian People don’t want this war, and so don’t the Russian people want this war — the only person that wants this war is Vladimir Putin himself.
In this video I found on TikTok by NBC News, you see a Ukrainian vehicle drive past a Russian tank that has stopped from working — they are literary talking to each other in a friendly way.
If you watch the video, you can clearly hear that these people don’t want to fight.
