Biblical Patriarchy vs. Modern Patriarchy
The early Biblical patriarchs earned their place as the head of the household by DEMONSTRATING their power as men. They demonstrated this by actually protecting and providing for their women and families, and building their communities, no matter how insurmountable the challenge appeared.
They proved they were honorable men. Women served these men because they showed evidence of their integrity. And because they demonstrated their ability and leadership, the women could respect and appreciate the hard work and sacrifice these men made for them.
These men didn’t prove their masculinity by getting on a podcast and talking about what they “finta” do one day. They did their jobs well, and proved they were men who loved their people, nation, and God.
Moses, on his faith in God, led all the Israelites out of Egypt in the Exodus, and though it took 40 years, secured them a home.
Actions proved their worth as Leaders. Many times other men challenged Moses for dominance in the Israelite community. But Moses didn’t have to talk about being a leader. He led, and if there were any that didn’t follow him, they would have to deal with Moses' source of power, the Great Lord God.
The Brothers Israel, Levi and Simeon, killed an entire village because of the rape of their sister. Although rash, they understood the importance of protecting the women of their tribe.
Solomon made a temple of gold and judged the people fairly and with great wisdom.
David slew Goliath, became a king, and not only led the Israelite men into one victory after another in war, but also inspired them with his humble devotion to his LORD and his Lord (Yes, two separate entities).
Jacob worked hard for 14 years before he was allowed to marry the woman he loved, Rachel.
King David had to kill 100 philistines (a race of giants) before he could marry Michal.
He did better, killed 200 philistines, and brought back their foreskins to King Saul.
And of course, Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross, not just for the nation, but for the entire world.
These are patriarchs. They made sacrifices for their tribe, community and family.
The Patriarchy of the ancient Hebrews worked on a system of positives. The men had to DO THINGS to build and maintain this patriarchy.
The Modern Patriarchy is NEGATIVE. It is trying to REMOVE THINGS to maintain its power. Namely, remove women's ability to self govern. Remove accountability from men for their role in destroying their families, usually with abuse, adultery, or criminality.
Simultaneously, they want to remove any requirement on men for sex and marriage with women.
So while Jacob had to work 14 years for a woman, David had to slay 200 giants for a woman…
Simeon and Levi slayed an entire village for a woman. These men want to whine about paying for dinner🤷🏾♀️
Before you men start beating women over the head about the Bible and submission, whack yourselves a few times over the face with that Bible for King David, Moses and the other men you insult by demanding biblical submission from women when you are far, far away from being like Biblical patriarchs.
