Bible Study Guide Day 015: Job 40–42

My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.

Job 42:5

Behemoth and Leviathan by William Blake

Previous Day 014: Job 38–39

Job 40

After hearing from God, Job responds by saying that he is unworthy and had spoken out of ignorance. He acknowledges that God’s ways are beyond human understanding and asks for forgiveness.

God continues to speak of His power and sovereignty over all creation. He mentions Behemoth, a powerful creature that only God could tame and control.

Behemoth is described as having a massive size, with bones like beams of bronze and limbs like iron rods. He also has a tail that sways like a cedar tree.

This description reminds us of God’s power and control over all things, even the most powerful and intimidating creatures on earth.

The Vision of Christ by William Blake

Job 41

In this chapter, God speaks of another mighty creature, Leviathan. This creature is also beyond human strength or control and only God has power over it.

Leviathan is described as a fire-breathing sea monster with scales as hard as shields. No one can challenge or defeat this creature, except for God.

This description shows us that nothing can stand against the power and might of our Creator. It also reminds us that we are not to fear any earthly threat because God is always in control.

It also reveals God’s wisdom and creativity in his creation.

Job and His Family Restored to Prosperity by William Blake

Job 42

In this final chapter of Job, we see his response to God’s words. Job humbles himself before God and acknowledges that he had spoken without understanding.

God then rebukes Job’s friends for not speaking rightly about Him, and they are instructed to make sacrifices for their wrongdoings.

God also instructs Job to pray for his friends, showing that even in his suffering, Job still has a heart of compassion and forgiveness.

In the end, God restores all that Job had lost and blesses him with even more than before. This serves as a reminder that God is always faithful and just, and He can turn any situation around for good.
