Bib Up Burrito!
A tortilla-wrapped tanka

Burrito in hand I can go anywhere — but, damn it! — it dribbles right down my chin and shirt front! Best to beware and bib-up!

When it comes to burritos, I reckon one in the hand is worth two on a plate. That’s because the mix of flavours and textures is lost when you resort to scooping forkfuls of deconstructed burrito from plate to mouth.
The real challenge of eating-in-hand is how to eat a burrito without wearing it. Much of it depends on how securely the tortilla has been wrapped around the succulent filling.
Burrito-wrapping is a culinary art-form deserving of an Olympic medal! I’m nowhere near reaching the podium in that contest. 😆
Still I try. And I enjoy. And sometimes I succeed in not making a mess. 😋
Thank you to Melanie J. for tag-teaming me into Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她)’s burrito poetry prompt. It seems I’m not the only one with burrito issues! You can read Melanie’s and Lucy’s stories here -
And here’s another one from Megan Nicole Morgan –
So, who else amongst us has a burrito story to tell? What about — Trista Signe Ainsworth | Marcus | Jeff Langley | K. Barrett | ScienceDuuude? You’ll find the prompt details here.
Thank you for reading, and thank you to Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) for her foodilicious poetry prompts, and for finding room in The Brain is a Noodle for a Bib Up Burrito! tanka. 🙏 💕
