BGREAT’s Blog Recipe
In my “About Me” bio I mentioned the topics that will be covered in the blog. In true Brittany fashion, I listed each of those and what they mean to me so that it will give you a chance to understand my lens and how that relates to your perspective & help us connect.
Ingredients
- African-American culture: I identify as an African-American woman and have always been immersed in the black community. From our rich history in the past to the new contemporary ways we curate in the present…
- Animals: I have always loved animals! My first family pet was an iguana that my dad brought home but my first pet that I bonded with was a West Highland White Terrier (Westie) named B.J. that I got when I was 10 and lived to be 16 years old! During that time, I volunteered with multiple dog organizations as well because I have so much love to give to animals. He passed away 3 years ago and I thought I would never have a pet for awhile. My partner got a dog early 2021, so I am a dog mom to a black mini Schnoodle named Hallow.
- Entrepreneurship:
- Finance:
- Food: I love going out to eat and trying new food! I remember as a kid going on a cruise and feeling fancy because I tried escargot but it was so disgusting! I love feeling the ambiance of new restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. I love the presentation of food, the service, and trying new foods whether they are amazing or I hate them. Just as all preferences, to each is own. I grew up off of a fast food palate so overtime I’ve been learning to eat the finer things in life! My cooking skills are not that great but I’m sure I can attempt to showcase them.
- LGBTQIA: My pronouns are (she/her). I came out unofficially to my parents at 16 and officially after college as bi-sexual. Since then, I have always been involved in our Pride organization at work adding our company into the Chicago Pride Parade and on LGTBQ panels at universities to help the younger community embrace being your authentic self.
- Relationships:
- Self Love:
- Thrill Seeking Activities: I’ve been cliff diving in Mexico, volcano boarding in Nicaragua, and swimming with stingrays in the Caymans. Anything that gets my heart racing and my fear rises, makes me want to conquer it even more! I am an adrenaline junkie and love to do thrill seeking activities as long as it doesn’t include hiking Mount Everest. I live in Chicago where the winters are crazy cold but I don’t think I could survive a cold outdoor hike.
- Travel: I’ve traveled to 35 states and 12 countries so far! Insert a travel quote. I truly find joy traveling and seeing how others live and observe the world we live in. I am a fan of deep conversations and debate. When traveling, you meet so many other with life long experiences and journeys that you can only hear about in movies. I want to see the world with my own eyes, I am an explorer and adventurer and restless spirit at heart, I also want to meet others along the way that are now strangers but soon to be friends!
