Beyond

a poem

Photo by Gemma Chua-Tran on Unsplash

I love you beyond the words I have to explain this phenomenon, beyond the daily grievances that resolve themselves eventually, and beyond the physical realm and into the spiritual.

This is based on a prompt by Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) from Anne Michaels — “Write a single line that communicates an absolute maximum of meaning: relationship, music, insight, emotion. A line one would whisper — or shout — if one’s life depended on it. How can one maximize that brevity?

This poem is about and for my partner. All my love poems lately are for/about him. Some extend into my love for my family and friends, but he is certainly my muse here.
