However, Bittensor has turned this concept on its head. Bittensor is revolutionizing the development of machine learning platforms by decentralizing the process and facilitating a peer-to-peer market for machine intelligence. It allows the collective intelligence of AI models to interconnect, forming a digital hive mind.

Therefore, TAO is emerging as a promising buy-and-hold investment, situated at the intersection of cryptocurrency and AI. They have transformed TAO tokens into mining rewards. Miners contribute computational power to train large models and process requests from other model users for inference.

In other words, TAO miners use their computational power and model-training expertise to mine TAO, in a way that’s similar to Bitcoin’s Proof of Work (PoW) mechanism.

Additionally, if model users wish to utilize Bittensor’s models, they need to pay with TAO tokens as a fee for inference. Therefore, this cryptocurrency also has utility.

The tokenomics of TAO also have similarities to Bitcoin. The supply of this currency is capped at 21 million, with the goal to release all supply by the year 2046. At the same time, this currency also incorporates a halving mechanism to achieve a limited supply.

The demand for AI and TAO will only increase, while the supply is limited. Simple economics tells us that the price of TAO is likely to rise.

This mechanism can provide incentives for machine learning researchers around the world to train models and perform inference, decentralizing every step of the machine learning process.
