My Better Half
A Poem

She’s my better half,
the mathematician, who came and taught me advanced math.
Her plus me,
a division they’ll never be,
because our memorable moments are multiplied, constantly.
Anytime I’m not by her side,
it feels like something within me has died,
because my soul is where she truly resides.
Melanin mermaid,
I love swimming in her love, such a magnificent cascade.
She doesn’t inspire me to be better, but my best,
a hug and kiss has me leaving the house like I gotta S,
on my chest.
Black Superman,
ready to do more than just survive in this corrupt land.
She tells me that to succeed,
should not be a want but a need,
she’s quick to plant a mental seed.
She waters well,
by showing what she tells,
I’ve never seen someone excel,
so quickly after they fail.
A force,
killing the game, with no remorse,
no matter what she’s doing, I’m always the first one to endorse.
That’s my Queen,
be her in the dress, or blouse and jeans,
she’s the one helping me to live my dreams,
by telling me, “Baby to fly, all you have to do is believe that dreams,
can become tangible things.”
When what we write is written from the heart, it’ll be kind of hard for it not to be heartfelt.
Most of you that walk beside me on this journey understand that I write to encourage, enlighten, and entertain. This has been my formula for over 20-years, and it will be my formula until I decide to retire my fingers. This style of writing affords me an unlimited amount of things to write about, within the scope of the three E’s. If my words can help just one person realize their purpose, I can leave the literary world a very happy man.
May all we deserve and desire flow abundantly into our lives like a river into a sea.
