Betrayal of Solace

A spoken word poem on being dismissed, unheard, and removed from family.

“I love you,” you speak without action. Words strung together, hiding your truth.

“I love you.” Conjecture, feeling family faith in you.

I watched my clay crumble, settling in discarded dust of our past. I needed you, helping me gather pieces in a torrential storm. Together, innocence blinded my pride, shimmering in solace.

“I love you,” you spoke, casting a curse. A blanket to cover me, twisting a life with your dismissive words.

I had sought out protection, keeping me from losing all hope. Then I find my chest tighten under your judgmental crown.

I never saw past the charade until my choices displeased you. Your answers were silence, speaking through others how I deceived you.

I had fallen for your bait, making me crazy, raging in agonies pain. Possession of my spirit running frantic, realizing I’m alone in the rain.

“I love you.” A mask worn to cover your cruel whims.

“I love you.” Words disarming defenses, allowing dark magic of disdain, burrowing under my skin.

“I love you,” you speak, gathering parental force. Then destroy me with love, shaping banishment as my course.
