Best travel hacks in Paris
I was in Paris recently, and that too in peak of summer — so I might have some hack or two for you
- Paris is known for its pick pockets, carry minimal and try to wear your bag on your front especially when you’re on subway
- Subways and public transport is very convenient. You could get the ticket online or at the nearest station. I would suggest buying multi day pass so you can conveniently travel without having to refill the card every single time.
- Make sure to download a metro app so you can get around the city easily, and take a range of payment methods with you to give you flexibility.
- If you’re from non french speaking country, all the self service stations have an option to switch to UK flag to get instructions in English
- If you’re not from EU region, please remember to collect tax exempt form for any shopping you do above $100. You can get it reimbursed at airports and several other currency stores in the city that support this
- Dress to the weather, carry a thin coat since it can get quite chilly in the evening. Bring an umbrella, too, as Paris does tend to get quite rainy. Locals usually don’t dress extravagantly on a normal day, blending with locals might help you not attract attention with pick pockets
- We had problems with Uber canceling on us multiple times near Eiffel tower after our night tour. Local taxis FTW. Some taxis even take credit card :)
- Smile, be respectful to the locals and enjoy your time while you’re in THE romantic city of the world.
