Best Destinations for Digital Nomads On $1000 Per Month
If you’re just starting out the digital nomad lifestyle and your budget is tighter I got the best places to go to.

Being a digital nomad comes with a lot of pros and also a few cons but that doesn’t mean that you should not consider at least trying this lifestyle out for yourself and getting a taste of freedom. It’s also very much important to say that you may just now be starting out and maybe your budget is a bit tight but never the less you can still travel and not break the bank, just be aware that maybe it will not be a very flashy lifestyle from the start.
Another disclaimer before I dive into my pick I have to remind you that in some countries and depending on your passport you may need to be aware of how long you can actually stay in each place. Most countries have Visa restrictions to keep in mind and if you’re planning to stay in one place for longer you’ll need to look into getting a longer visa or residency permit. Remember, it’s not a once size fits all situation so just be sure to check up on that.

Bali, Indonesia
You’ve probably seen a million Instagram posts and influencers rave about Bali and there’s a reason for that. The country is quite affordable and the local lifestyle there is super comfortable and chill. The food in Bali is not only cheap but it’s delicious, cafes are popping up all over the place because a lot of people decided to move to Indonesia so you have a lot of cool places to try. Moving around in Bali is super fun and chaotic as well with the thousands of motorbikes, they’re super cheap to rent as well. Accommodation although it’s still quite cheap it’s definitely increasing due to the flock of tourists going there and making the place a lot more tourist crowded, never the less it’s still quite affordable if you move outside the popular areas. Another upside to Bali is that you can easily get a longer-term visa. Beware of the temptation of going bar-hopping most nights, and spending all your money on flashy things.

Warsaw, Poland
If you’re looking for a Western European place this should be on your list. Warsaw has a very beautiful historic old town and a very modern and advanced city vibe. Rentals are pretty low for the quality of the place you can get even on a budget and getting around by public transportation is super cheap. The food here is good especially if you like a more Western European heavier meal but you can find a bit of everything for really good prices. Loads of coffee shops and nice places to work from and Wi-Fi here is very good everywhere you go. The downside is that if you’re not from the EU countries you can only stay here for a 90 day period which then you’ll need to leave for 180 days before returning to any EU country.

San Carlos, Costa Rica
Besides the luscious jungles and tropical beaches, Costa Rica has a very rich and immersive culture. Being a Latin American country the lifestyle here is so intense and sensual, perfect if you’re going for the Pura Vida lifestyle. The food cost here is low, rent can vary depending on the area you’re staying in but it can still be doable on a low budget, and getting around in public transportation will cost you less than $1, and finally, the Wi-Fi speed is pretty good. The downside here probably is that this country although still being affordable to live in, may feel your budget a bit tighter due to the fact that a lot of ex-pats moved here exactly because it is such a nice and welcoming place but never the less you should definitely come here.
The next two destinations I haven’t been to but they’re on my list for 2022/2023 as I’ve heard amazing things about them.

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
I’ve heard wonders about Vietnamese culture and also a lot of ex-pats and digital nomads are traveling here because it is so affordable. The food can cost you as little as $1-$3, you have tons of local coffee shops to choose from, rent can be as cheap as $250, for transportation you can rent scooters if you’re feeling adventurous to drive there or if you want to take a taxi or taxi scooter it can be as cheap as $0.30. If you want to explore Vietnam while you’re there it’s also very affordable and you have a lot of things to see and do. Definitely on my list.

Zanzibar, Tanzania
Can we talk about these turquoise waters for a second? This is the ultimate dream beach location for me. Zanzibar has a very chilled back environment, not fast-paced at all, so if like me you like lounging on the beach and heat, bungalows and are prepared to deal with the bugs that come with this tropical location, definitely it’s a must go to. Internet here from what I know is not the best but still manageable. Prices here for food and accommodation are pretty low as well so all in all, it’s a good place to go to even if for a shorter period of time.
