Benefits of Working With a Life Coach

When I first started my personal development journey, I had a misconception about what it is life coaches actually do, and it has come to my attention with time that I am not at all alone in that. I thought that they basically told you how to live your life and what you would need to do to live your dream life. I was so wrong!
Life coaches are far more beneficial than someone who just sits there telling you what needs to be done. Chances are, you will subconsciously reject the ideas given to you if you are simply told what you need to do. Our brains don’t like to implement processes and make changes if we didn’t come up with them on our own.
Ok, so what do life coaches actually do if they don’t tell you how to achieve your goals and live the life of your dreams and how can they be beneficial to you?
Coaches help you gain clarity
A life coach will work with you, asking questions and have you talk your way through your area of uncertainty until you have that ah-ha! moment and know what it is you are meant/want to be doing in life.
Coaches hold you accountable
Once you have achieved that clarity and know what it is you want to be doing with your life, your coach will hold you accountable for the things that you have said that you are going to do. It is so easy to procrastinate and eventually fall off the path that we set for ourselves, but when you are being held accountable for your actions, you are much more likely to follow through with your plans.
Coaches increase your productivity
Of course, having someone hold you accountable is one way that coaches help increase productivity. But, having a life coach also improves your levels of motivation which in turn will also increase productivity.
Coaches improve your communication skills
When you work with a coach who is asking you questions, making you think, and then asking you to narrow down that answer and make it clearer, naturally you improve your communication skills through this process. You eventually become better at articulating exactly how you feel and what you mean through the practice of regularly meeting with your coach whether online or in person.
Coaches build self-confidence
Not only does coaching build your confidence by discovering clarity, but having a life coach is like having someone in your corner cheering you on. Your coach will be someone who will celebrate your successes with you, and help you to find the lesson to be learned through any failure you experience, ultimately making you more confident in the long-run.
Coaches help rebuild relationships
Whether you are receiving coaching with your partner, or on your own a side effect of coaching is that it helps to improve relationships. Not just your romantic relationships will benefit from you working with your coach, but your friendships, relationships with your children and other family members, and your work relationships too!
Coaches help you to establish a work-life balance
People often seek the help of a coach when they feel overwhelmed with career obligations, or when their business/career are simply eating up too much of their time. A coach can work with you to discover where you can better manage your time so that you get to enjoy more time with your loved ones.
Coaches help you to achieve goals
We all have goals that we want to achieve, but sometimes those goals may seem so big that we just don’t see a way to get there and then we get stuck spinning our wheels. Working with a coach will help you to break those big goals into smaller bite-sized pieces and actionable steps to take so that they become easier to achieve.
Coaches help boost your happiness levels
Working with a coach helps to decrease stress and anxiety levels, and a coach can teach you the tools you need to start living more in the moment and create your happiness from the inside versus relying on outside factors to make you happy.
Coaches help you address your limiting beliefs
Limiting beliefs are something that we all have, whether we realize it or not. Working with a coach will help you to uncover what your limiting beliefs are and help you to rewire those beliefs so that you can start living your life authentically, on purpose.
Coaches help you find your inspiration
Before we can become motivated to achieve anything in life, we must first become inspired. It is the role of a coach to help you uncover your inspiration by digging deep and uncovering your passions and your big why.
As you can see by the points I have highlighted in this article, life coaches are so much more than a person telling you what to do and how to live. A coach is someone who is passionate about helping you to create the life you have always dreamed of living, on your own terms.
Is it going to be easy to create that dream life? Probably not, it will take commitment and work from you. But when you have the support of a life coach, it becomes a lot easier than it would be if you were trying to navigate the world and figure things out on your own.
Have you ever hired a coach? I would love to hear from you in the comments section what benefits you found from working with your coach.
