Summary

The poem "BENEDIZIONE (Blessing)" reflects on humanity's lost connection with the universe and the potential for rediscovering its essence.

Abstract

"BENEDIZIONE (Blessing)" is a polyglot poem that contrasts the past simplicity of understanding the universe through direct experience with the current state of estrangement. It suggests that our history has led us to forget this intimate knowledge, resulting in a world filled with obscured paths, toxic ideas, and love turned bitter. However, the poem posits that our greatest burden, the deep knowledge of the world, is also paradoxically our greatest blessing. It concludes with the hopeful notion that ecstasy will return once we remember the primordial essence of the universe.

BENEDIZIONE

davanti a Noi tutti, ora Sentieri distanti e offuscati, Idee avvelenate, Amore amaro

il nostro più ingombrante Fardello, la nostra più grande Benedizione —

— è la profonda Conoscenza del Mondo

e l’Estasi verrà, quando rammenteremo la sua Essenza primordiale

BLESSING

Once we knew th’Universe by Heart

so simple an’ pure that to talk about it it was enough to breath

so simple an’ direct, like the feeble Echo of ancients Truths and unaware Prayers

our pious History wanted to delete it

has thrown, without Remorse every one of his Honors between the Folds of Nothing

in front of us all, now distant and blurred Paths, Poisoned ideas, Bitter love

our most bulky Burden, our biggest Blessing —

— is the deep Knowledge of the World

and Ecstasy will come, when we’ll remember again its primordial Essence
