Science From a Spiritual Perspective
The most important thing is finding the truth

Life. What a journey it is. A journey from separation to unity. To connectedness. Life's biggest separation is the idea that Science and Spirituality are two different things that can never come together as one.
Science is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.
Spirituality is the suspicion that there is more to life than we can see. It is a direct experience of something beyond intellect. It is beyond our five senses and the physical world.
For some, science in itself is a spiritual journey. Unraveling the mysteries of the universe and trying to know the truth and meaning of our existence is the reason we are here.
Where Science and Spirituality Separates
Science is logic. It focuses on observation. It doesn't rely on tales. It relies on the physical. Anything beyond the physical is considered crazy thinking. Illogical. It relies on a ‘repeatable phenomenon.’
It believes in something that can happen again and again. Science doesn't believe in things it can't see. Especially when it doesn't repeat.
Spirituality on the other hand believes in a direct experience that may or may never repeat. This direct experience transcends experiments. It doesn’t need to be physical.
Science relies on things it can feel. Things it can touch, hear, and see. It may struggle to believe this direct experience spirituality talks about.
But those who are lucky enough to have this direct experience could not explain it if they tried. The most magical moments of life don’t happen again and again.
Spirituality is open-minded. Whether or not there is something beyond the physical, don't you want to know the truth?
Spirituality believes in the possibility that there are things that are bigger than what science can perceive and comprehend. The belief that there is more to life than the eyes can see.
It is interested in the wisdom behind the experience. The lessons. The mistakes. Everything. It seeks to go beyond the material world and it focuses its attention within.
Spirituality uses an inner intelligence that is from the inside out.
Science and Spirituality As Opposites Seek One Thing
Albert Einstein was the most famous scientist of his time. He knew we could never fully understand the true nature of the universe within the limitations of the logical mind.
To experience the universe as a whole, he encouraged others to use their intuition to solve problems. Intuition is what makes us look at the unrelated facts the scientific mind will miss or ignore.
Intuition breeds new knowledge. Observation adds unto old knowledge.
We learn more about our surroundings when we can quiet the chatter of the mind and listen to the voice deep within that is whispering everything we want to know.
It whispers the answers we depend on math to calculate and find. Science alone proves to be a lot of work. When it partners with Spirituality, it makes it all not so hard.
Einstein was known to marvel at the mystery of God and nature, and he recommended great spiritual teachers like Jesus and Buddha.
Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind — Albert Einstein.
By religion, he is referring to the spiritual experience which goes beyond science.
When Science and Spirituality Attracts
Astrology would say that Science is Virgo. It needs calculations and every single detail to make conclusions. It uses its senses to compare and contrast, measure, predict and experiment. It needs theories. It needs to see it to believe.
Spirituality on the other hand is Pisces. The opposite of Virgo. It needs not to see something to believe it. It believes in the supernatural and doesn’t require the small details. It sees the bigger picture.
Science and Spirituality differ in so many ways but one way they are similar is in their search for the truth. Neither science nor spirituality will make conclusions about things they don't believe in.
When opposites come together they can go on immeasurable heights. When Science and spirituality merge together, lives change immensely. The synthesis of Science and the divinity of Spirituality brings peace, success, and a holistic approach to a better more fulfilling life.
Science keeps spirituality grounded and spirituality enlightens science. Spirituality opens science’s eyes to a world of infinite potential. Together they make the world a better place. What one lacks the other makes up for.
A Show Puts it All Together Perfectly
CBS’ new thriller-drama, ‘Evil’ is a perfect depiction of Science and Spirituality in a scary, yet brilliant tv series. The idea of ‘Evil’ came from a conversation the creators and married couple Robert and Michelle King had.
Robert is religious and therefore goes toward a divine explanation of things. Michelle on the other hand is scientific in her approach.
There is so much evil in the world and science can’t always explain it all. What is real and what is just made up by the mind? What is controlled? And what is an illusion? What’s a dream? What are night terrors? How does Science explain demonic encounters?
How does Spirituality shed light and what role that religion play? Does God speak to man? And in what language? At what times? Is there Heaven? Is hell made up? What's real in the bible and what is not? Why do good people suffer and the evil one gets away with it?
The outcome of that conversation is this brilliant series that studies the intersection of science and spirituality— and the places where the lines blur.
The goal of this series isn't to prove or disprove the existence of supernatural experiences or prove that science is king. Its main goal is to explore the idea that science is sometimes just as strange as spirituality.
The characters of the show are two totally different people with different believes who respect and listen to each other and are comfortable expressing their opposing perspectives without judgment from the other.
There is so much talking and less listening when it comes to Science and Spirituality. Scientists don’t listen to the spiritual person and call her ‘woo woo’ and the spiritual person feels the scientist has no idea!
The Blurred Line
Science and Spirituality will be here forever as man is curious and always looking for a boundless experience. Science (facts and observation) and Spirituality (meditation or prayer) is the quickest way to experience this boundless experience.
It is the fastest way to connect with that intelligent voice within us — by just sitting still, tuning down the noise, and going within. Science can improve the world but it can’t be done efficiently with scientific knowledge alone.
Science needs ideals. It needs wisdom. Confucius, Buddha, Jesus, and Gandhi had so much wisdom and did more for humanity just as much as science has.
Science helps us to observe our surroundings in a way that encourages intelligence. Spirituality allows us to experience life in a way that encourages growth and expansion.
Science and spirituality complement each other like a Virgo and a Pisces. They disagree because they are opposites but they attract like magnets and create magic!
They need each other to mirror back aspects of themselves for a better understanding of ‘self’ and a mysterious universe.
Science and Spirituality are one and connected.
