Believe You Can Determine How You Feel At Any Moment

Up and down, and all around it goes. That’s how we feel. Sometimes we encounter crappy days that ruin our mood completely. We get angry and upset over issues and people that rub us the wrong way. On other days we can count on lighter moments, feeling good, until another bad spell happens.
What is it about managing emotions that get us all tied up in knots? While the internet is flooded with articles written and researches done on the topic, managing emotions is still an enormous ball of mystery for many.
It intrigues me that happiness is like a popular holiday package that many people jump on. But once the vacation is over, no one seems to be able to bring home with them the thrill and excitement they experience during the holiday. No doubt they remember how it feels like in their head, but it’s just not there anymore.
Let’s face it, we all want to feel good and be happy. We read tons of books and listen to numerous podcasts on how to be happy and how to stay happy, but somewhere along the line, we miss a point. It’s like the paradoxical statement that says, you know, but you really don’t know.
Just like everything else, you’re made up of energy. It’s important to recognize that what you put out is what you’ll get in return. How you feel and portray yourself will lead to the same energy coming back to you. Where you focus your attention is where you allow your energy to flow. Needless to say, if you want to feel good, you have to remove your attention from anything that might cause you to feel otherwise.
Anything can be the source of your unhappiness, from the most insignificant to an incredibly unpleasant experience. Is there a difference? Apparently not.

You see, happiness isn’t a feeling that comes and goes, although many would disagree. It’s not like you have it on some days and other days it goes into hiding. It’s not a complicated theory. It’s exactly what it is. If you want to feel good, be intentional about where you focus your attention.
Granted, there are a gazillion other things in life that will not turn out to your liking or approval. Whether you’re dealing with people, things, or events, responding with a bad attitude will not make life any easier for you or for someone else.
What can you do then? Take your attention off the subject. Whatever causes you to be unhappy, sad, miserable, angry, depress, or just simply caught up in a foul mood, withdraw your attention. Don’t think about it. Quit focusing on things that aren’t working. Don’t drag your problems to bed. If you’re not in the right mindset to handle a situation, give it a rest.
Your focus is your superpower. If you’re fixated on the problem, you’re not allowing the solution in. You can’t feel good when all you notice is what’s wrong. Often times, it’s not even what’s happening that is affecting your emotion. It’s about your perception of what’s happening that’s causing you to feel a certain way, good or bad.
Divert your attention from anything you don’t want. Refrain from focusing on anything that might cause stress and anxiety. Is there any choice in the matter? Of course. You determine how you feel at every moment.
Life is not just about the good things or not just about the bad things. It is both. It all depends where you focus your attention.

That’s why depressed people see a depressing world. An angry person perceives a more critical and intolerant environment than it actually is. Someone who is anxious sees nothing but danger, fear, and destruction.
When you’re willing to shift your attention away and start to see a more positive world, you will find yourself noticing fewer of the negatives in life.
This does not mean that problems will suddenly vanish or that you should live in denial. It’s far from that. Problems will always exist. You can’t determine how life will turn out, but you can certainly determine how you respond to it.
Let’s stop the excuses and blame. There’s no point trying to chase happiness if you refuse to take responsibility for the one thing that can make a difference. You!
The key to experiencing fulfillment in life is to recognize that you are in control. You can change any limiting beliefs that are stopping you from achieving what you’re capable of. You don’t have to live under the influence of your conditions or your surroundings.
Determine what you’re going to make your life out to be. A long-term experience of satisfaction and fulfillment comprises of many short-term feelings of joy and pleasure. The more you intend to feel good, the more you become an energetic match to what you want to attract.

Feeling good is everything. We are here for the experience. Although life is a roller coaster, be mindful that you do have control to a certain extent. If you keep a level head, life can and do work to your advantage. Keep things in perspective.
When you’re in the throes of a bad patch, it helps to remember that nothing lasts forever.
Instead of passively reacting to life as it unfolds and feeling like a helpless victim, decide that you’ll let nothing spoil your day. Choose happiness for yourself. Stay calm and look for a trace of blue in the dark skies ahead.
