Belief Needs to Be Manifested in the Mind

Use thoughts, reflections, and beliefs to guide your mind into tranquility.

Quarantine has shifted my mindset from who I was before. I had to think, process, and act differently than before.

But one thing shifted I did not believe it would; my beliefs. Before March 2020, I, as many of you, went through the day-to-day without care of what am I providing for myself: Is it time? No. Is it comfortable? Yes. Is it bringing me fulfillment? Hell no.

Changing is inevitable. We must grow and learn from what we perceive ourselves to be to what we are. Yes, growth seems to simmer. Do you feel it? Is anything boil inside of you just waiting to steam on out of the kettle?

As I went through these revelations, I wondered what else can I change about my predicament.

Long and behold, I curated a new belief system right before my eyes. I will let you know the beliefs I have been working on for just about a year now. Perhaps you can try them too!

Belief of Thought

My mind was in complete disarray and wandered around from thought to thought instead of allowing it to consume me frequently. I took notice of it. I analyzed it like a Boxer would feel out his or her opponent in the ring. Gliding around in circles as delicate and graceful as a butterfly, I stung at opposition to my beliefs with a left hook that could knock out a world-class boxer.

The knockout from this helped me to view the situation in a different light. Settled into submission without being bombarded by an onslaught of negative self-take or excuses from. Desperately taking the time to notice the patterns. After short bursts of thoughts continue to erupt, it is clear what is happening. It is not a pattern, but a cycle of contradictions.

Actually, there are three kinds of contradictions.

  1. Primary contradictions.
  • The focus is on you coming to odds with you.

2. Secondary contradictions.

  • The focus is on others coming to odds with you.

3. Territorial contradictions.

  • The focus is on the surroundings, coming to odds with you.

Be watchful about what these influences are feeding your perception. There are steps to take to guide your way out of this way of believing.

The acronym I use is “NAS,” which is also the name of my favorite rapper, ironic? I think not!

  • Notice: take in what is going on inside and around you.
  • Adjust: change how you perceive your surroundings.
  • Secure: move forward feeling sure and safe with yourself.

Take in a New York State of Mind and flow with yourself like the lyrics from this song blasting in your BEATS or Air Pods. Live a life of your choice with preferences that suit your needs and desires.

“Only by learning to live in harmony with your contradictions can you keep it all afloat.”

Audre Lorde

Belief of Reflection

Journaling is a practice that keeps on giving. Having something in your hands to refer to whenever you are confused or lost seems to guide you straight back to you. You are the destination inside of this journal. Guide these pages with all of your dreams and desires, along with your pitfalls and vices. It is a blessing to relish and captivate yourself at the moment.

To be a journaler, you need to think about the right setup for the space you are reflecting in. Your environment dictates the good or bad mojo going into this notepad of yours. I highly recommend Moleskins as they easy to hold on to, and the loose strap keeps them in place. Also, an easy flowing pen or marker could do wonders as well.

Suggestions of spacial components to include to optimize thoughtful notes:

  • Lighting needs to be a dim light, just enough to see what you are writing.
  • Seating by keeping yourself propped up with your lower back, feeling cozy and snug.
  • Sound is on you; what do you prefer dull silence or instrumentals of Mozart playing.
  • Aroma pertains to the individual; I could go for honey vanilla, but if you are a lavender fresh, do you.

Once this is all settled, then the writing can begin when thinking about what to write about. Remember your day and build upon it. Let your writing genuinely flow out of you.

Questions are a wonder for guidance, but this is a conversation with yourself—you, yourself, and well you. Be honest with what you want to reveal because keeping secrets from yourself only harms and never helps. Put the darkness out where it is not meant to hurt you, anyway. On the page, it shall stay and be out into the world. It is no longer there to harm you any longer.

This is to help you shift your mindset and perspective within your writing. While allowing this transition to happen, goodness can follow. But do not have me explain this to you; you can figure this out for yourself!

“Keep a diary and one day it’ll keep you.”

Mae West

Belief of Action

Without action, what is the purpose of moving onto the next day, right? There is none. Sense of meaningless can live in hoping and wishing for change by not setting it into motion. The key here is to get up and get started.

Perhaps you need a quote to fire yourself up. Nothing quite hits me to my core, like a quote from The Rock.

“When life puts you in a tough situation, don’t say why me just say. Try me,”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

If that doesn’t do it for you, then try a mantra. But I highly suggest crafting your own to recite each more after waking up and walking to the bathroom. Have it propped on your sink or on your mirror to hold yourself accountable to say it each day by looking at yourself. Be adamant and passionate about what you are saying. Believe in yourself as you had once believed Santa Claus was real.

Here is a positive mantra you can try:

“Everything starts with me. I have the power to change today. I take responsibility for my life. Great blessings are headed my way.”

Or you can prep the night before your day with a list. Not just any list, a priority list!

“The purpose of life is a life of purpose.”

Robert Byrne

A list of priorities leads for changes to accumulate when attention is given to them. Without it, you are mindlessly traveling through life, hoping for something different without attempting to do so.

Take action and get moving by using the mind in your favor. It is forever in your favor if you think hard about it.

In Conclusion

When it comes to beliefs and your mind, achieve a balance among these three areas of thoughts, reflections, and actions to manifest into something grand. Go out there and be great with your beliefs and mind.

  • Be thoughtful with what you bring into your world.
  • Practice reflection on any choices made by using journaling.
  • Take action as setting your mind up for success.

Stay well, friends.
