Being Penalized $10.00 For Being Human
When Being Taken Advantage of Has Gone Too Far
The old me would have just paid the 10.00 and then stopped doing the thing that caused me the extra fee.
It seems so silly writing about this but, its time that I stood up for myself because no one else will.
Injustice abounds in the tiniest of cracks in our lives.
In this particular instance, I am being charged $10.00 for entering my routing number incorrectly on a bank website called mutual pay. It is the website my Association uses for my Townhome to collect monthly association fees.
The He Said, She Said Trail
After disputing the fee yesterday, I received a less than desirable response.
“The customer service rep did reply and state that the routing or account number was entered incorrectly, but didn’t waive the fee. They always charge this fee for any transactions submitted for processing and account not located.”
My response back;
Thanks, Pat for your follow up.
What an unbelievable bank you work with.
So basically you are penalizing me for being human to the tune of 10.00.
In good faith, McGill Management should waive this charge. I will not be paying it.
I will continue to pay the association fee monthly and stop using the online service.
McGill Management should be telling its customers that if they use their online service that they will be charged a 10.00 fee by their bank for entering their account number wrong.
So they better be really careful before they enter their account number.
Seems like a silly thing to tell people!
I will start to mail you a check every month because your online processor and bank are unethical!
A $10.00 Lesson Learned That Will Increase My Value In The World Ten-Fold
Yes, my mind keeps telling me that $10.00 is insignificant and that I should just let it go because it’s not on the level of racism or something epically unjust.
Ahh, but this is where it starts doesn’t it?
I let this $10.00 injustice go and that $39.00 late fee go on my credit card and pretty soon I am out $100.00’s of dollars for the year.
It all adds up! And those are just the measurable things. What about the things that are unjust that I let slide under the rug because I don’t want to rock the boat with someone emotionally?
And then it hits me, I am not very good at having my back.
I would watch my ex-husband navigate the land of getting fees reduced or waived all the time because he knew he could. He was never afraid to ask.
I on the other hand fall victim to the voice in my head that says “is it worth all the trouble to get a silly old 10, 20, or 30 dollars back?”
Declaring Our Worth Is The First Step To Stopping Injustice Cold In Its Tracks
Every injustice adds up over time!
It’s why Black Lives NOW Matter. It’s why All Lives Matter.
It’s the uprisings and the waking up of consciousness that will change our politics, our governments, and our institutions. And it happens by acknowledging that we as people have value no matter how much is in our bank accounts.
The old paradigm that he who has the most money wins is starting to crumble.
We have a net worth that transcends dollars and cents. And discovering what that is for ourselves is the ticket to our freedom.
Declaring YOUR WORTH starts with having your back. A beautiful back that is worth valuing.
You cannot escape the acknowledging self-worth step and expect to wiggle out of injustice.
The Universe Helps Those That Help Themselves
The Universe is in your corner when you declare your worth and demonstrate it.
Can’t you see me, people? Don’t you know that I want to be valued?
It’s like being a hypocrite. The acknowledgment I am asking for from others cannot be received If I am not willing to see it for myself.
Life has a way of working from the inside out. Yet, we are trained to believe that life is an outside-in job.
If I make my success happen in the outer world, then everything will be ok!
Unfortunately, this never works. It’s more about finding what’s wonderful in me first, then acknowledging it is there, and then taking it on the road with me to create the life I would like to have.
And that is me helping myself while co-creating with a Universe that benevolent in its reach when I am being kind to me.
The Injustice of Not Moving Forward With Self-Worth Intact
No one around you will be hard-pressed to change when you put yourself last. And this behavior is what perpetuates injustice in our lives.
I’ve had to learn this the hard way as most of do. You know you have to learn what you don’t want to be able to know what you do want. It’s the nature of being a human being.
So how do we put ourselves first and why is that important?
You start with a question. A question is an invitation that starts to invite a different possibility.
You can start to ask, “If I were being kind to myself concerning this, what could I now choose that includes me in the equation of this situation?”
“What am I refusing to know, be, perceive, and receive concerning this?”
“What energy, space, and consciousness can I now be that could be the catalyst to changing this?”
These questions are all about including you which is an active way to acknowledge that YOU DO MATTER no matter what is happening around you.
So go forth knowing that the injustices in life our just life’s way of allowing us to include ourselves in the equation of our lives.
