Being Modern: When Everything is Monetised, Life Just Gets Murdered
Living and dying in profit-driven hell
Modern life and money
Work in tandem
Service with a smile
Is worthy of a tip
Along with coffee sips
Relationships go awry
As all gets weighed up
For the Indigenous peoples,
Land was a common good
Now even a room with a view
Gets monetised
And lovers get high, flashing
Blood-stained diamond rings
When mindless thugs and murderers
Are praised, biopics made
And the best brains of the ‘developed’ world
Design weapons of ever more deadly force
At our wedding feasts,
We’ve seen death by drone,
How many are woke
And how many exist in a Netflix
Sugar and drug induced haze?
For the starving millions, they don’t care
Robbed us blind, caused us famine
Now let white on white go a-bombing.
From selling to all sides
Someone’s making a killing
