Being Added As Writer to Reciprocal…

Got me thinking about how important other writers have been in my journey on Medium.

As the old saying goes it takes a village, and starting on Medium is no different. Today I read “ We Are Your Partner in Your Writing Journey” by Sahil Patel introducing his publication Reciprocal. I was also lucky enough to be added as a writer today as well.

In the article, he talks about helping one another in our Medium Journeys and it got me thinking about my six months on Medium and how much help and support I have received from the Medium Community.

Getting Started

When I was first starting on Medium I had no idea what I was doing and never thought I would come this far. Will anyone read my writing? Will anyone follow me? Do you think I’ll make any money? The questions were endless but I kept writing.

I had maybe written three stories and had no idea what a publication was and assumed it was way out of my league when Warren Patterson suggested that I submit some of my work to the publication Be Yourself. I was shocked and excited. I requested to become a writer and was surprised when I was accepted. Six months later and some of my highest earnings and most read articles were published in Be Yourself.

Thank you, Warren for taking the time to read my article and giving me some advice when I was just starting.

Readers Who Have Supported Me From The Beginning

Bernie Pullen was one of the first people to highlight and comment on a story of mine six months ago and she continues to support me. Whether she reads and highlights, gives constructive feedback, or features me in one of her stories she has been huge support from the very beginning. Thanks, Bernie for all of the support along the way.

I also have to thank other consistent readers who highlight, comment, and read every time I have a new post: Indigo, Mona Lazar, The Sober Vegan Yogi, and of course all my other followers.

I Love Reading On Medium

I love Medium and exploring new authors and stories to read. Some of my favorites are Mira Lucas, Rachel K. Gause, and Destiny S. Harris. One of my favorite aspects of Medium is finding new information and authors to enjoy all the time.

Medium is no different than anything else in life we need to support each other and find our village for this journey. I am so glad I decided in November to join Medium and even happier with where it has taken me over the last six months. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store.

And to my village thank you, thank you, thank you!
