Being a Podcast Guest
Sharing my first time
Podcasting has been popular for many years, but being a guest on a podcast was a very new experience for me.
With a published writing career that has spanned over 25 years I’m not new to public speaking nor to being interviewed. I enjoy the interaction as a chance to spread my writing projects and to share who I am with an audience.
I’m always a bit nervous when I begin, but once I’ve made eye contact to connect with people I immediately relax and have fun in the process.
Sure! I’d be happy to be a guest.
Oh? The podcast interview will be over the phone with no eye contact?
Hmm. This is new for me.
Oh? I won’t get a list of interview questions beforehand?
Hmm. I write about Tottenville History from 20 years of research. I hope I can recall the correct names and dates.
Sure. Let’s do this!
What? Am I crazy for agreeing to this?
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
What’s the worst that can happen?
No. Don’t tell me. Ignorance, in fact, can be bliss.
On the night of the call for the podcast that tinge of nervousness evaporated after the first couple of minutes of conversation. The host, previously a stranger, and I made that connection, even without any eye contact.
We were comfortable talking, totally engrossed in an interesting conversation. I surprisedly was actually having fun, a testament to his experience in interviewing, not to any of mine in being a podcast guest.
Here is the result for you to judge.
Let me know what you think.
