Summarize

Being a new writer is a dizzying experience.

I help people understand the basics of writing. At least twice, I have run into those who are dissatisfied by the inner workings of being a writer. They are frustrated while trying to write a book by the amount of time that writing takes out of a day. In their mind, they thought a writer sat down and wrote all day.

The concepts of publishing, formatting, marketing, editing, and proofreading had not crossed their mind. They would write. Then a stack of money would come and jump in their lap. No, nope, nada. Not in a million years. The number of people required to publish a book is legion, and all of them are waiting for the writer to tell them what to do.
