Beginners Breathing

Most of us probably believe breathing is something we merely do subconsciously, with no thought process or intention to live and it is but when it’s made into a conscious act, it is so much more than just a function the body performs to stay alive. It becomes a tool to stay grounded during emotional ups and downs. It is an art form that allows you to perceive your body as it evolves into the presence of calmness.
In many scenarios, we take deep breaths subconsciously to soothe our nerves or to clear our heads when it’s time to make big decisions. Something so instinctual to us, when breathing is made conscious it becomes an act of servitude to ourselves. Instinctual self-help; create cohesion between the mind and body in an attempt for balance. You might challenge the power of conscious breathing like I once did, but once you become more self-aware of what innate tools, you have at your disposal; you notice the things you do to maintain balance mentally and physically.

10 minutes in the morning.
That’s all, 10 minutes of conscious breathing, sitting on the floor cross-legged. Don’t worry about your thoughts running wild and just return your attention to your breath. Deep breath in through the nose and exhale slowly out through the mouth.
Breathe in for the 4 seconds, hold for 1 second, exhale for 4 seconds and hold for 1 second. As you get more confident with the practice, you can gradually start increasing the duration to 5 seconds and so on.
Starting your day with conscious breathing grounds you and allows you to carry out your goals or daily tasks with less mental clutter and less mental distraction. At any rate, this practice isn’t just limited to the start of the day. It can and should be performed whenever a person is not feeling 100%. Before deciding, take a deep breath. Before entertaining an argument, take a deep breath. When feeling anxious or nervous, take a deep breath. When something hasn’t turned out the way you envisioned, take a deep breath. When feeling frustrated, take a deep breath.
Breathing is a powerful tool when used to its potential. By taking time out at the start of the day to practice breathing exercises, it can only benefit those people.
