You look at the tiny creature that seems to regard you with curiosity. Unaware of its nature and temper, you remain quiet until it makes a few careful steps toward you.

“Hey, little friend,” you say gently.

It tilts its head to the left and makes a purring sound.

Slowly, you grab into your jacket pocket under the creature’s watchful eyes and pull out a chocolate bar — your iron reserve.

You split the candy in half, putting your new friend’s share on a rock beside you. It hesitates for a second before jumping next to you to devour …

… the chocolate.
