Becoming A Person Of Value

Achieve Success Without Getting Rich

“Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.”

- Albert Einstein

We’ve been hoodwinked.

Their TV commercials, social media posts, and podcast opinions want us to believe that you are not successful unless you accumulate all the stuff they are peddling.

That’s a lie.

And that’s another thing Albert Einstein got right.

German-born Einstein was not only right about the theory of relativity and developing the world’s most famous equation — E=mc2. He also knew some things about real life. True success is not about money.

The big idea here is: People tend to regard success as the accumulation of “things”. Things that can be purchased with money. But no one is ever remembered for what they possessed. You are only regarded for what you give to the world. Out of what you have become over years of experience and development.

Here’s how this applies to us and becoming a person of value:

* Develop a new perspective on success. Be defined by what you can give to the world. The moment you realize that you do have a lot to contribute, you grow taller even in your own eyes, as you achieve growing success by helping more of your neighbors each day.

So, let’s put this into action:

1. Begin listing the abilities, strengths, and blessings you have. That $5 bill was just a little extra cash to you, but for that homeless guy, it was his get-out-of-dying-from-hunger card. For him and his people. Your excellent listening skills seem to come naturally to you. But to the girl who talked your ear off, but didn’t take those pills…you are a savior!

2. Identify one or two persons that you can touch today with a kind word or deed, or simply your time: that would make a world of difference for them. You have to be intentional about connecting with and giving help to someone. But that’s how successful people are — intentional.

Those who pursue the success marked by a certain amount of money, or some phantom status quo will never experience the satisfaction of doing good for someone who can’t pay it back.

The power of being the better person is the ultimate human success.
