Beat The Stress By taking a Vacation

Staycation, workcation, and vacations are new ways to beat the stress and get back to working productively

I called up a friend and she said “I am stressed, there is too much work in the office and I cannot handle it anymore”. I suggested that she should take a vacation. She said “sorry I cannot leave my work and go for a long time”. Moreover, I have family responsibilities and so a long vacation is not a near possibility.

I told her “there are many new types of vacations available these days. One of them that helps you is the new short break that relaxes you. It is called ‘staycation’

Beat your stress and go for astaycation’.”

A staycation is technically a kind of short vacation close to your house. You need not travel and so the cost of travel is saved. There are two ways to do it.

  • To stay at home and take day trips to nearby places like a long day picnic.
  • To book a room in a nice hotel or resort to a distance where you can drive and stay there for one or two nights. There is no travel required and either you can go alone or with a friend or a family member.

In this place, you have all the comforts and enjoyment as you do not have to do your daily chores. Enjoy the comforts of a beautifully decorated room, well-served dinner, waited upon by serving waiters, and a well-furnished restaurant with soft music and candlelight enjoyment.

Another option is to take a ‘workcation’.

This means that you work as well as you stay in a quiet and beautiful place. You relax and you still work without being in your usual environment. This will be a change and you will feel happier when you get back to the full swing of work.

For this, you will have to travel and you find a place where there is an internet facility, the beauty of a garden coupled with all the advantages of an office like photocopying and fax machines.

In addition, there should be the possibility of a conveyance and a guide to take you out to places of interest where you can relax.

You will always be connected over the phone with your office. You will not be losing contact and will continue to establish your business interests.

You can take a workcation in the woods or in another city near the mountains, the beach or in a quiet place whichever you prefer. Some people like to go to the beaches and others like the mountains.

You can continue to work there and also have a wonderful vacation away from home.

Finally, take a vacation

It is best that at least once a year you relax completely. Go to a beach resort or to the mountains or to a city of your choice which you have not seen earlier or just meet up in a city you like with friends. You can also do a trekking holiday or a sports holiday. You can go to butterfly gardens, spice gardens, aquariums or boat riding it can be made very exciting.

When you find that you can take a week off, then go on a vacation with or without your family and fully beat your stress. These breaks help you to bring back your productivity to your full capacity.

So did my friend take a break? She did a staycation in a closeby resort with family. What was the result? She was bursting with energy when she called me up to thank me. She felt relaxed and completely at peace. She was back to her productivity level.

The moral of the story is that relaxation is a must. A human body has a limit to working. A day or two off from the daily routine will help in rejuvenation and working in full capacity.

Final thoughts:

The important takeaways are that when you are stressed there is ‘no productivity’, so relax and beat the stress by taking some vacation. It may be staycation, workcation or vacation.
