Abstract

9d13">As the thing in itself cannot be known, we are left with patterns of rationality as the only relevant reality (idealism). These patterns of intelligibility structure reality, and like living things they can develop towards more rational states. The name for this kind of extended mind in German is Geist, meaning a combination of mind and spirit.

The development of Geist is driven by two processes: differentiation / articulation, and integration. Together, they comprise the systematization of the world itself. This autonomous system gradually evolves as it synthesizes opposing ideas through the dialectical process. In this way, rationality (and thereby reality) realizes itself, ultimately becoming self-aware in the form of the World Spirit (or God).

One of the consequences is that God, as the self-organizing principle of reality, is again seen as rational, and we can again access the divine through rational reflection. Hegel is effectively translating religion into philosophy.

While popular in his time, Hegel’s ideas faced critiques on numerous front

Beach Bar Trial Update — Under Investigation, Delayed or Canned?

The announcement of the successful proponent for the proposed Beach Bar at Kurrawa by the City of Gold Coast, was meant for Monday November 1, 2021.

The tender process for city projects usually includes a 28-day information period, followed by a 3-month assessment period. The City of Gold Coast with this Beach Bar project allowed for a 14-day information period, followed by immediate assessment, and winning tender announcement on November 1.

The winning tender is meant to commence trading on December 1, 2021.

It is now a week past the decision date and 3 weeks from the trial start date, and there has been nothing but silence from the City of Gold Coast.

Does this mean that the tender is still under investigation by City of Gold Coast?

Due to time constraints (there is no way this project can be built in 3 weeks on that site), has the project been delayed?

Or, has the state government stepped in and killed the project?

Whatever the reason, the City of Gold Coast is keeping the residents in the dark about giving away public land to private developers once again.

Here’s hoping that the State Government, through the Environment Minister Meghan Scanlon, have intervened and done the right thing.
