Be Your Own Hype Man
Rooting for yourself is the most important thing you can do today
If you’re anything like me you love getting excited over things, love giving complements, lose your voice scream at your favorite concert. But we have a harder time doing the same thing for yourself but it’s important to be your own hype man for the simple reason is you’re the only person who sees everything you do and is always there.
Did You See That?!
Often the greatest accomplishment of our day goes unseen. If you were in the March Madness finals everyone would see you and applaud the basket, but if you’re practicing free throws in your local park court there might not being anyone there to notice. The skill is still there and taking a moment to call out a good job is worth it.
Amplify things that you do well — a perfect parallel parking job, a call you made and could finally check off your to-do list, a delicious dinner you prepared. It doesn’t matter what it is, if you did a good job, you need to give yourself credit for it.
It’s Worth Celebrating
Do a little dance, do a cheer, put on your favorite hype song and belt it! I’m talking full force celebrate. Make an effort to do this as often as you can.
After a while, you won’t remember what little thing you were celebrating that day, but after a while, you’ll feel like your life is a celebration. That feeling sticks in your body.
Start Listing Things
Somedays you just don’t feel like you did anything and your burned dinner and were late for an important meeting. I completely understand that feeling. But I’m sure there are a lot of small good things you did throughout the day and listing them can make you see that you actually did okay that day.
Walked the dog — Awesome!
Did 10 minutes of yoga — You go!
Made the bed — Now we’re talking!
Put on sunscreen — Yes!
Bottom Line
The bottom line is you deserve to be celebrated and live a life of fun and sometimes that means you have to take things into your own hands and be your own hype man.
