Be Special, Be Like A Snow Crystal

Crystal — first day prompt for #Inktober2021

Image designed and created by the Author

if snow crystals are lyrics in a poem, I’d send them to you as softly as it falls wafting, hovering, unhurriedly filling

rummaging through pine tree leaves exceptionally radiant, untamed thus far perfectly rare from each other as thee

dazedly comforting thyself in the stillness of the night, serenely whispers, “sleep well all’s well that ends well, my cherished One…”

if this ain't enough, to make you feel special, dear I’ll send sure not a sole snowflake swirl whilst a blizzard of snow kisses, how’d you feel?

“Every moment in our life resembles a precious magnificent, snow crystal, soon to vanish from our sight. We must begin to inscribe of it soon, or else every minute here and now melts into nothingness, never to evolve identically as it is again.” — Josh Balerite Acol

For the first day prompt of Art Tales, “crystal”, I can’t help but think about snow crystals or simply called snowflakes. I swear to you, the moment I have thought about it, I am enticed to write something poignant like this one.

I remember an adage a long time ago that, “No two snowflakes were alike.” This originated from a famous American meteorologist named Wilson Alwyn Bentley, born in Jericho, Vermont. He was the first physicist who took elaborate photos of snowflakes in 1885 and recorded their delicate features through his bellows camera. In 1931, he published his first monograph, Snow Crystals, with the help of another physicist, William J. Humphreys.

However, in the year 2015, another famous physicist named Kenneth G. Libbrecht proved that he can produce “identical twin” snowflakes through his own lab by changing the humidity and temperature as the crystal grows.

This piece is in response to the prompt “crystal” for the #Inktober2021 challenge of Art Tales pub. Thanks so much for the awesome invite, dear Jay JS Adam. Kindly refer to the link below. Please don’t hesitate to join, guys!
