Guide to do Curation for Our Best Discovery and Be Open Golden Stories

~This page is the main reference for all Be Open’s Curators!~

Hallo, I’m A Shayens Abran the owner and editor in chief of Be Open publication! Now, I will guide you (all Be Open Curators and everyone who’re interested to be guest curator for us) to do curation for “Our Best Discovery” and “Be Open Gooden Stories” :-)

CURATING Duties (2 simple duties):

1. Doing curation for Our Best Discovery

“Our Best Discovery” is a list of stories of writers outside Be Open publication (stories made by Be Open writers that are published in other publications also can be added to this list).

I only need each day you pick at least 1 story to be listed in Our Best Discovery!

How to do it:

• Each day, you need to search at least 1 story anywhere from Medium platform outside Be Open publication to be included to our Best Discovery.
• Please search different topic for each day’s discovery (we have particular topics for Our Best Discovery: poems, fictions, relationship, life, etc. Example: Day 1 search for poetry, day 2 for fiction story.
• Please pick (review/curate) different writer for each day. You can pick the same writer after a month or more.
• We will provide links to those particular topics page where you should add that story in its comment section.

My tips to make this curation works easier:

I suggest you save those links above in a notepad for easy copy/paste. Or bookmark this post to easy checking and clicking those links!

Also another tip: While doing curation, I suggest you to use two browsers. The first browser is to open that topic links. Another browser for searching the story from the publication. After you find the curated story and copy its link, you can just go to the former browser to paste its links in its comment. That’s what I always do without feeling overwhelmed opening several tabs back and forth in one browser. :-)

How to add the story you pick to that topic page of Our Best Discovery:

1. Copy the writer’s link and paste it in its comment section of the particular page we provided above (you must put the story to the matching topic; poems, fictions, life, etc). Please let it as a link, not a text name or a mention.
2. Paste the story link under the writer’s link.
3. Under the story link, Please add your own writings as part of your curation (not have to be long passage, as short as 5 words to as long as you want). It can be in the form of; (Just choose one you’re comfortable to do)

Review: Add a few line of your review about the story, how it’s written, etc. Summarize: Write a short summary, a few lines explaining the main idea or pointing to a key takeaway. Favorite part: Copy/Paste a passage/a paragraph/a line or a stanza you liked so much based on your personal taste. Quotation: Copy/Paste a noteworthy part from the story that you think has value for readers. It also can be a unique or interesting fact. Opinion: Write out your short opinion about a topic in the story.

* Just choose one you’re comfortable to do * Please stated whether it is a review, an opinion, a favorite part, etc. * In the final published of “Our Best Discovery” list, your name will be credited (Example: Under the story link, it will be displayed like this: The Favourite part(or review/quotation/summarize) by Be Open Curator (your name): ……

*Why you should add your short writings/opinion? It’s for our readers recommendation, to pique their interest that it’s a good piece to read. We want this curation well presented, so people will want to read the content from the writer we feature.

My Opinion (or summarized/favorite part, etc) : Yes, we all deserve to be with someone who love us, who want to be with us in any circumstances. Find someone who has self respect as they will know how to respect their partner.

2. Add story you’re handling to Be Open Golden Stories

“Be Open Golden Stories” is interesting stories of Be Open writers picked by editors.

It’s optional but I suggest you do it as it will encourage our writers to write more and also good for the curators themselves to grow other followers and build relationships with fellow Medium writers! :-)

How to do it:

• Each day, search a story in Be Open publication homepage and click one. Please take attention to their story in your hand. If you think it has good message, so engaging to read, has value for others, or it really makes you feel touched (sad story) or get entertained (humour), memorable, written/edited perfectly, honest personal story, provide useful tips, represent Be Open (openness), , you can choose it as Be Open Golden Stories!
• You only need to copy/paste its link to the provided Golden Stories page and copy/paste a single passage you like from that story.
• All Be Open Editors and Curators can add their own stories to Be Open Golden Stories pages below! :-)

*Here are the available topics where you can put your curated stories:

How to list the story to our Be Open Golden Stories:

1. In the story page, copy and paste the writer’s link to that provided page above in its comment section (you must put the story to the matching topic).
2. Copy/Paste the story link under the writer link.
3. Pick “a golden part” from that story; It’s something like quotation, the passage you think having inspirative words, or very great tips. Copy/Paste it under the writer/story link.
4. In the published Be Open Golden Stories, your name will be credited (exp: Golden part by Be Open Curator (your name): …….

What are the advantages as Be Open Curators?

• If you already been Be Open’s writer, your stories will be featured at the top of Be Open homepage.
• It can grow your follower base
• You can add your own story to Be Open Golden Stories.
• Your name will be displayed in each story you curated as a Curator. The writers and others will see you as person with credibility.
• Another advantage is you can build relationships with other writers.

So, our Be Open curators, those are the detail duties of you! I bet you will be used with it and enjoy the editing and curating activities).
