“Be like a “Child” to be ……….”

I am curious as to whether there exists an individual on this planet who harbors a disdain for children.
In other words, are there any men or women who do not desire to have children in their lives?
The answer is unequivocally negative. Numerous individuals perceive children as a divine blessing.
“Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children”. — From Holy Bible.
Is there anything within the vast expanse of the universe that possesses the ability to make a significant impact on history from the moment of its inception?
It is only human beings, particularly children, who possess such power.
The phrase “be like a child” may sound like a cliché, but it holds profound wisdom that can enhance our well-being and overall happiness.
In the current era characterized by rapidity, pausing to contemplate the attributes of a child can serve as a rejuvenating means of altering one’s perspective.
One may question the potential wisdom to be gained from such an endeavor, finding it rather amusing.
“Children are the most important treasures on earth and their value is immeasurable.” — Ain Eineziz.
What factors contribute to the veracity of this assertion?
Let’s explore the valuable lessons we can learn from a child.
- Unbridled Curiosity and wonder : From the moment of their birth, children exhibit an innate inclination towards acquiring knowledge.
They possess an inherent curiosity that drives them to explore and comprehend the world around them.
Every minute detail holds a sense of wonder for them, and they exhibit no hesitation in seeking understanding of unfamiliar concepts.
As youngsters, we often experience a sense of shame when inquiring about a subject with which we are unfamiliar.
This is a common occurrence that many of us have encountered at some point during our educational journey.
We are concerned about the perception of others if we admit to lacking the knowledge in a particular area.
So, if we are like children in this character, we reap the benefits.
2. Living in the present moment : Living in the present moment holds significant meaning in and of itself, and is applicable to individuals of all ages.
However, children possess this characteristic naturally, more so than adults.
For instance, children collect items without considering their future use or outcome.
My child, for example, collects rocks, which may seem amusing to me. Nevertheless, the fact remains that they are content in the present moment, regardless of the item’s use.
They collect items because they enjoy them, and perhaps have an idea or imagination about their collection.
They are happy with their collection in the present moment, without concern for its use or outcome.
Conversely, as adults, we are often preoccupied with the past or future regarding our collections, causing us to miss the present moment of joy or happiness.
We may miss the “awe of the present moment” without even realizing it.
This is not solely a matter of joy or happiness in small moments. It embodies characteristics such as noticing our surroundings, focusing on one thing at a time, attentiveness, being grateful for what we have now, and being mindful of everything we do.
These characteristics indirectly enhance our happiness and joy, thereby improving our health and well-being.
“Happiness, not in another place but this place ….not for another hour, but this hour.” — Walt Whitman.
3. Resilience : Resilience refers to the capacity to recover and rebound from adversities, difficult circumstances, stress, failure, challenges and even trauma.
When children experience a fall, they demonstrate remarkable resilience by promptly getting back up with a smile. This serves as a mere practical illustration.
As young individuals, we encounter numerous psychological wounds.
I believe that there is not a single human being on this planet who has not experienced such psychological hurts, stress, and even trauma.
This represents the primary challenge faced by individuals beyond childhood worldwide in the present era.
Everyone encounters setbacks at some point in their lives, but what truly matters is whether one has the ability to rise again.
This is where resilience becomes crucial.
Resilience is the corner stone of one’s success, without which achieving any level of accomplishment becomes unattainable.
Scientists who possess great resilience have made significant discoveries throughout their lives.
Resilience is applicable to every domain one can think of.
This characteristic holds immense influence over human existence.
Therefore, it is imperative that we cultivate this trait within ourselves, just as children naturally possess it.
4. Creativity and Imagination: Children possess vivid imaginations and boundless creativity compared to their younger counterparts.
They exhibit versatility in their thinking patterns, often initiating their endeavors with genuine curiosity, even when lacking prior knowledge.
Their relentless pursuit of answers to the questions they pose is commendable.
I have personally witnessed this in my own 5-year-old child.
While watching television, she bombards me with numerous inquiries on a daily basis. If she fails to comprehend something initially, she persistently seeks clarification, continuously generating potential interpretations until she receives affirmation.
This aspect of her behavior never fails to astonish me.
The remarkable creativity children display in their comprehension of various concepts, coupled with their unwavering quest for knowledge, is truly marvelous.
They consistently exhibit an eagerness to learn and experiment independently.
5. Authenticity : Children openly and genuinely express their emotions without the apprehension of being judged.
Embracing authenticity as adults enable us to establish sincere connections with others and nurtures a profound sense of self-acceptance..
6. Fearlessness: Children are the initial individuals who encounter situations without fear.
They are not hindered by criticism or setbacks when embarking on new endeavors.
This is also a prominent characteristic exhibited by children.
Fear serves as the fundamental cause of all failures. Embracing a more audacious mindset can facilitate personal and professional growth.
7. Innocence and purity : Children possess a natural innocence and purity of heart, which we perceive as a negative characteristic in ourselves as adults.
Often, we do not desire to be as innocent as children. However, being innocent and having purity of heart can bring unparalleled benefits.
It is important to remember the innocence of our children and their delightful conversations.
We take pleasure in listening to their innocent stories and cherish and enjoy their talks.
These are the qualities that attract us to children.
Unfortunately, we frequently overlook this virtue of attracting others, which creates a healthy atmosphere around us.
Furthermore, having purity in our hearts can protect us from dangerous health issues.
If we do not allow purity of heart within ourselves, it can become a breeding ground for jealousy, hatred, and other negative habits or traits.
We are all aware of the consequences or health issues that can arise from possessing these traits.
Therefore, it is imperative that we maintain innocence and purity in our hearts, as it directly influences our well-being.
8. Honesty: Frequently, it is observed that children possess a greater degree of honesty compared to adults.
Their innocence allows them to speak the truth without any ulterior motives.
Unaware of the consequences, they remain honest with themselves and others.
Consequently, embracing honesty yields numerous advantages.
Firstly, honesty promotes authenticity, enabling individuals to present their true selves.
Secondly, honesty nurtures courage, empowering individuals to confront difficult situations truthfully.
Moreover, honesty cultivates a circle of love, fostering genuine connections with others.
Additionally, honesty demonstrates maturity and self-acceptance.
The exhilarating feeling of liberation accompanies honesty, as it liberates individuals from the burden of deceit.
Lastly, honesty serves as a preventive measure, keeping individuals away from trouble.
Ultimately, the decision to embrace honesty or not, lies within our own discretion.
9. Forgiveness: It is a commonly acknowledged phenomenon that we all encounter and undergo.
However, what distinguishes children from us? Although we, like children, make mistakes, do we possess the same ability as children to relinquish our resentment and willingly love our fellow beings?
It appears to be a rather arduous task, unlike children who are prompt to pardon and forget.
If we were to emulate children in this regard, it would enhance our relationships with others and, in turn, contribute to better health and wellness in our lives.
10. Unconditional Love : If one were to examine the annals of history, it becomes evident that the sole entity to have consistently exhibited unwavering love is God.
Amongst humanity, only children have been observed to possess such a profound capacity for unconditional love.
It is a universal desire for individuals, regardless of their identities, to be cherished or loved by others.
By whole heartedly loving others without any conditions, both the individuals themselves and those around them stand to gain immense advantages.
11. Faith and Trust: Children demonstrate a inherent inclination towards trust and faith.
They wholeheartedly place their trust and faith in their parents without any hesitation.
This characteristic is often observed in our own children.
Moreover, faith can be defined as the act of placing trust in things that are imperceptible to our senses.
As adults, it is imperative that we nurture this attribute in order to rely on someone, preferably God, during times of adversity and bereavement.
This practice fortifies us, ensuring that we are not alone and have someone to provide care and protection.
Consequently, it guides and motivates us to confront and overcome the obstacles that lie ahead.
12. Humbleness : Humility or Humbleness is the ability to view yourself accurately as an individual with talents as well as flaws while being void of arrogance and low self-esteem.
Children frequently exhibit humility, characterized by a lack of pride and pretense. Humility is considered a virtuous trait, and adults can gain valuable insights from the unpretentious nature of children. Embracing humility offers numerous advantages, a few of which are outlined below.
Firstly, humility strengthens interpersonal connections, fostering deeper relationships with others.
Additionally, it contributes to increased happiness, positive emotions, and overall well-being, as individuals gain a clearer understanding of themselves and become comfortable with their strengths and limitations.
Moreover, humility aids in the development of a more profound and enlightened perspective of the world.
By recognizing their own imperfections and limitations, individuals can cultivate a more evolved outlook on life.
Lastly, humility plays a crucial role in strengthening the connection between spirituality, religion, and overall well-being.
By embracing humility, individuals can deepen their spiritual and religious practices, leading to enhanced personal growth and fulfillment.
the virtues of humility exhibited by children offer valuable lessons for adults. Embracing humility can lead to stronger connections with others, increased happiness and well-being, a more profound worldview, and a deeper connection between spirituality, religion, and overall well-being.
13. Joy and Thankfulness : Children derive happiness from the simplest of things, and they frequently exhibit gratitude/thankfulness for the blessings that surround them.
I am astounded by the ability of my five-year-old child to exemplify this quality.
Whenever I purchase something for her, she approaches me in a gentle manner and expresses, “Dad, you have brought this for me,” followed by an immediate embrace, accompanied by a gleam in her eyes.
It is during these moments that I comprehend the significance of finding joy in the uncomplicated aspects of life and expressing gratitude.
As adults, it is imperative that we cultivate this attribute within ourselves.
Not only does it bring us joy and contentment, but it also establishes a foundation for nurturing healthy relationships and ultimately enhances our mental well-being.
14. Joy of play : Play is a fundamental component within the life of a child, as it not only cultivates delight but also enhances their social aptitude and cognitive growth.
The incorporation of playfulness into the lives of adults can effectively alleviate stress, enhance interpersonal connections, and significantly contribute to their overall state of well-being.
15. Mindfulness and Focus: Children demonstrate a remarkable ability to concentrate when constructing their collections or for that matter doing any task.
By embracing this skill, individuals can cultivate a state of heightened awareness in the present moment and wholehearted involvement in tasks, consequently nurturing mental well-being and enhancing the overall caliber of our experiences.
16. Collection kings : Children possess an inherent inclination towards the act of collecting(gathering natural and physical things) a delightful characteristic that reflects their limitless curiosity and unfiltered sense of awe.
Children are instinctively drawn to amassing keepsakes that captivate their imagination.
This innate desire to collect arises from an intrinsic sense of exploration and the sheer delight derived from tangible treasures found in their surroundings.
These spontaneous collections become tangible expressions of their evolving interests and sparking creativity.
Through this simple act of collecting, children embody the essence of exploration.
This tells us their imagination and value or understanding about things.
As mature individuals,we refer to the practice as an “act of collection,”which we regard as a commendable trait or virtue.
It is my belief that a significant number of us possess this attribute or custom.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, upon observing children, one can discern their seemingly uncomplicated nature, yet they possess remarkable qualities that often go unnoticed by adults and even the elderly, if I am not mistaken.
Recognizing these attributes and incorporating or adopting these commendable traits in our own lives will undoubtedly yield significant benefits at both the individual and societal level.
This is because a vibrant populace signifies a vibrant society as a whole.
