A poem expressing the search for authenticity
Be simple, be real
Seek to be yourself
The world’s watching
To see a side of you
Which is not a cover-up
Or merely a facade
Like a superhero story
We’re tired of superheroes
The world does not need another hero
We need an authentic person
To whom we can relate
Who speaks their thoughts
And hide not their weaknesses
Please give me a story
You are that story
Although it may not be glorious
But please assure us
With all sincerity
That whom we know
Is the authentic real you
