Blue Leaders are action-oriented. Blue Leadership mindfulness develops an exceptional environmental sensitivity and consciousness. As they process the change analytics in the Terrain of Opportunity with their physical senses as well as with their intuition, their natural response is to engage pro-actively. Blue leaders possess an exceptional desire and propensity to lead. The desire to lead is a natural aspiration in Blue Leaders. They are born to lead, just as everyone is a leader of sorts at birth.

Blue leadership is the emergent leadership that is better aligned and aptly conducive to this era of uncertainty and permanent turbulent change.

The Dao (道) [or Way] of Blue Leadership provides the action frame of a complete, patterned response to the management of business excellence as well as the socio-psychological stress, dissonance, and disequilibria engendered in this era of uncertainty and permanent turbulent change.

The conditions of VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) challenges organisational performance to engage the emergent social realities of uncertainty and permanent turbulence. This involves the successful management of change by projecting visionary Blue Leadership to instill confidence and a sense of direction out of the chaos created to bring about a new social order and equilibrium within the organisation. The Blue Leadership mandate is to direct the thrust of change efforts to create and evolve a corporate culture with the discipline of continuous learning and innovation, and where permanent change has become a way of life.

Blue Leaders use Mindfulness to overlay the Terrain of Opportunity to provide a “sense” of the turbulent change in real-time. Mindfulness is the Capacility [capacity+capability] to capture holistically the authentic pattern(s) of changing social realities. Mindfulness self-mastery in Blue Leaders imbues in them the consciousness of action through sense-making. It emboldens and empowers profoundly insightful reflection to inform fearless engagement and innovative decision-making.

Blue Leaders are devoted to perfecting the multiple skill-sets necessary to materialise their four Passions for Strategy, Service, People and Performance. Perfection is defined by impact, and the ultimate perfection is attained through self-mastery in the Blue Leader when the Art of Blue Leadership becomes him/her.

Blue Leadership self-mastery is cultivated by his strategic scan of the change characteristics in the applicable Terrain of Opportunity through mindfulness insights into the permanent change variables. Perfection is assured through the discipline of the Blue Leadership Dao (道) [or Way] enlightened by the essence of Timelessness, Formlessness and Intelligent.

9-ACTIONS FRAMEWORK

Blue Leaders develop a 9-Actions Framework to operate as their sense-making frame for continuous reality-learning. The development of the dynamic 9-Actions Framework of Blue Leadership is driven by its 4 Passions for Strategy, Service, People and Performance as described through the following illustrations:

The 9 Blue Actions relate, interact and bond with each other in dynamic real-time, like a chemical molecule where its component atoms are in perpetual motion within, acting as a cohesive seamless entity with the 4 Passions and Orientations of Blue Leadership.

The Focal Action of Strategy is driven by the Blue Leader’s Passion for Strategy, and it sits front and centre as the unshakeable polestar visionary purpose of Blue Leadership.

The Action Cornerstones of Blue Leadership have the Actions of Society, People, Stakeholders, and Analytics as their core fascinations. They are the initial action triggers as Blue Leaders embark on the expeditionary journey into the Terrain of Opportunity. Analytics actions are programs for factual discovery involving identifying, gathering, and analysing all types of data and information that are adjudged by Blue Leaders to be material and relevant from Stakeholders (employees, vendors, customers, regulators, and shareholders), People (non-buyers, service providers, stakeholders’ families, influencers and opinion-makers) and Society (environment, community, associations, power groups and their enforcers, interests groups and the general public).

The Action Cornerstones of Stakeholders, People, Society, and Analytics are firmly supported by the Action Pillars of Leading, Systems, Markets, and Learning. Together, the Cornerstone and Pillar Actions establish the basic constitution of the Blue Actions Framework to identify, distinguish, and characterise Blue Leadership. Through their behaviors in the dynamic pathways of the 9 Actions Framework, Blue Leaders can be identified and recognised.

Each Action Cornerstone develops affinity and synergy with 2 Action Pillars to create Trigons of Actions as the continuous learning response to Terrain Vector changes in the conscious unconscious mindfulness of the Blue Leader thereby emboldening and enhancing his/her Capacility.
