BBP’s First Writing Competition — Update

Winners to be announced soon

I am delighted to announce that we received fifteen entries for our first writing competition. That’s achieved several key objectives:

  • Worthy prizes — nobody’s going to become a millionaire here but a first prize of $100 and a second prize of $50 for each category (poem and fiction writing) is not bad at all.
  • A good start on the Bouncin’ and Behavin’ book — we’ve had some excellent entries, and although not every entrant submitted a poem, short story, and snippet, the quality of work is excellent, and we have strong content for our book.
  • Valuable lessons — it was our first competition, and there are plenty of lessons to learn from it. Other competitions will follow!
  • Completed mission — we made this happen, and we can make it happen again. All of our authors and readers around the globe can see that we mean business and can execute a plan. The next competition will be even better.

Judges

The entries are being assessed by our judges, Brandon Ellrich and Suzy Jacobson Cherry as I type. They should be done by next Saturday. Jason and I will then be presented with the shortlist, so we can give our opinions and the winners will be chosen shortly after.

Fairness — due diligence

In the interests of objectivity and fairness, the only person who knows who submitted what is me. Jason hasn’t seen a single submission yet, and the judges have entries labelled as competitor numbers (“Competitor number 1”).

Thanks

I am grateful to each and every one of you — those who read our publications, those who contribute, and those who took part in the competition. Thanks a million.
