Back In The Day Of Y2K
A poem of my childhood memories…

Photo credit: made on Bing Image generator for Jessica’s Quill.
Butterfly clips and glossy lips,
Spaghetti Straps and bright fingertips.
Bucket hats and low-cut jeans,
Studded t-shirts and pop star dreams.
Millennium bug caused a stir,
War declared by Bush and Blair,
Spice Girls and Britney topping charts,
Dawson’ s Creek breaking hearts.
CD players and lime wire,
The Sims keep setting themselves on fire.
Feeding Tamogotchis, our first pet,
Til they soon died to our regret.
David and Posh, more beloved than the Queen,
Back when page 6 was still quite obscene,
Fortune tellers passed in class,
Mario Kart is racing fast.
Jelly sandals and tye-die tees,
Blockbuster videos and DVDs.
Frosted tips and spikey hair,
Friendship bracelets showed we care.
Cargo pants and the Nokia phone,
The 02 Arena was the Millenium Dome.
TV guides and MTV,
Pokémon was every kid’s must-see.
Jam ‘n’ glam Barbie and action man,
Scoubidoo bracelets got a school ban.
Watching Pop Idol and playing PS2,
Ignoring all homework to do.
Those were the days of Y2K,
Magic childhood moments wished away,
Simpler times without adult cares,
Read like a postcard ‘wish you were there.’
Ever get that nostalgia?
That’s what this poem’s about.
