The web content describes a photojournalistic journey through the central region of Italy during autumn, capturing the essence of Assisi's ancient architecture, alleyways, and arches, as well as the vibrant fall colors in Tuscany.

Abstract

The article titled "A: Awesome Autumn, Ancient Assisi, Architecture, Alleyways, Arches" is a visual narrative by Rhonda Carrier, who participated in the Living Color Monthly A-Z Photo Challenge initiated by JoAnn Ryan. The challenge aimed to explore new photography perspectives. Carrier's Letter A story unfolds in the heart of Italy, where she and her companions enjoyed the golden hues of autumn in Tuscany, particularly during the golden hour. They were captivated by the historical richness of Assisi, its Roman heritage, and the legacy of Saint Francis of Assisi. The photos feature the town's ancient curved wall, remnants of a Roman colosseum, and the serene juxtaposition of modern elements like a table with an umbrella against the old wall, alongside young olive trees. The Assisi Cathedral's arches, artifacts, and angels are highlighted, as well as the robust architecture of the region built to withstand time. The narrative also takes readers through the winding alleyways of Radda in Chianti and the arched support in Castellina in Chianti, pondering the shared use of space above the arches. The author expresses a desire to return and continue admiring the region's beauty.

Living Color Monthly A-Z Challenge: Photos of “A” things

JoAnn Ryan started this photo challenge to find new ways to enjoy photography. Here is my Letter A story.

We visited the central region of Italy in autumn just as the leaves were starting to show their golden colors.

The beautiful autumn view brought us out many evenings to sit together for conversation and a glass of wine.

The town of Assisi is well known for its Roman history, beautiful churches, and the history of Saint Francis of Assisi. The beautiful old curved wall in Assisi is the remains of a Roman colosseum. Don’t you love the table with the umbrella sitting against the ancient wall, and the two young olive trees growing in the garden space?

While in Assisi we visited the Assisi Cathedral. It was another beautiful cathedral with arched domes, artifacts, and angels but it was only one of several beautiful churches in Assisi.

Radda in Chianti was another small town that we visited in the area. I love the architecture of these buildings. They are so sold-looking but with tiny winding alleyways between them sufficient for bikes and motorcycles to pass through.

The view in the photo below is in Castellina in Chianti. It was one of our favorite places to visit since it was close to our villa. I loved the arch that supports the connection to the buildings. I wondered if the living space above the arch was shared by the families on both sides or if it was a separate space with its own entrance.

Hopefully, we will return to the region soon to admire more of its architecture and awesome landscapes.
