Awaken Your Nostrils

Poetry Prompt: something to celebrate your sense of smell

Photo by Clay Banks on Unsplash || I guess this dog is sniffing YOU?

appealing to the senses, I often forget scent.

how easy it is to get accustomed to how things smell — the earthy smell of living underground the laundry detergent I normally use

until I’m shifted into an entirely different space, (or I cook something particularly pungent).

to spend this time acknowledging this habituation

I have finally explored the world of candles wax melts of boiling tangerine peels and cinnamon

to jog and awaken the senses that have long forgotten what it’s like to be a part of something new.

Tagging: Rochelle Silva | Mary Keating | Niru | Wobblyjester if you’re up to it and anyone else interested in today’s prompt: something to celebrate your sense of smell.

Can’t wait to house some of these in The Brain is a Noodle! 🧠🍜
