Autumn Cabaret

Upon branches bare two owls hoot and share syncopated tones hollow as their bones
perfect fourth apart trading riffs by heart spanning measures, two nightly rendezvous.
Dual whoops in hues of nocturnal blues when arrives a third tawny, ruffled bird
out of tune and time dissonance sublime — minor second jars over- lapping bars.
Yet the breeze soon stirs feathered connoisseurs who make all discord blend in one concord
now their off-beat jazz hovers holy as solemn, cryptic hymns upon naked limbs
