Update: Day 9 Illumination Spotlight
I’ve finally gotten automation to work for me.
I hand built the last set of links for all the great Illumination stories everyone has submitted using my cut and paste method. My form sends an email to me. Now, it also creates the start of a post using some of the information on the form. Your email and special remarks aren’t included in the draft post.
A nice index of submitted Illumination stories
Illumination Spotlight makes a nice index of Illumination stories. Authors write up a nice synopsis and WordPress has a nice search feature. Here’s the last post.
The newer ones will still be hand crafted, but I’ll be doing little to no cutting and pasting. I’ve gotten the software to be able to take the information from the first four fields on the submission form and create the skeleton post.
The submission form is right on the front page now:
The only required text blocks are the link to the story and a one to two paragraph synopsis of the story. Also, in order to send the form, you have to click the GDRP box regarding the terms. (I’m not selling emails and links submitted are used for the posts).
I’ll review the submissions, add a paragraph for the excerpt, and load up a stock photo. I am checking once or twice a day, otherwise I will end up spending all day watching the queue. I enjoy seeing the stories come in and love reading them as well. I might not get to your story right away, but I’ll stop by soon.
The Big G Magic
Once Google does it’s magic, it will be nice to see where the links turn up in their search results. The goal is to provide extra “link juice” to the Illumination stories on this platform so that outside readers get exposed to your work and with the goal that maybe they subscribe — earning you some partner money.

New stories will be for single posts
Because of the way the automated system sets up the posts, I will be crafting individual posts for the stories. This should work well for search engine indexing. It will also work well for searching within the site since each post will be standalone. Because I’m not doing the data entry portion, it makes it fun to write a headline and select a photo.
