Wednesday: What stereotype do you unwillingly fit?

Acts like fuel now. Discrimination on the basis of accent in the workplace. So, what if she has all the right qualifications and experience? After successive dismissals from ESL jobs,* started freelancing.

Discrimination on the basis of skin colour. Where is home for you, my dear? Now the introduction includes the mention of the original homeland. Proudly declaring that Canada is the adopted country.

Preconceived notions about the culture/ethnicity. Spicy food, arrange marriages, segregated households. No reaction or response to the questions. Or attempts to provide explanations and clarifications.

Preconceived notions about being single. She must be desperate, lonely, and destitute. The mystery continues after blessed twenty-one years of singlehood. No comments. Love the intrigued looks on the faces.

*The jury is still out that if it was due to accent, or age played a role.
