At War With Myself
A poem about struggling with killing pests in the garden.
Oh, beautiful garden! My striking delight
You bring me much wonder. What a pretty sight!
You give me joy and grand happiness
In you, there is beauty and great tenderness
I know all of you from bulbs and seedlings.
When you have needed help, I have offered you healings
You have grown so big in you some find rest
The bees and the birds in you want to nest
However, not all insects come here to find peace
Some bugs are here to destroy and to feast
They eat all your leaves and steal all your vigor
Whenever I see them, my heart turns bitter
I do not want to kill any creature at all
I only want peace and my life to enjoy
But if they force my hand their lives, I will take
I will not let them ruin you; I will fight for your sake.
