At Beattie Communications We Don’t Hire Blacks, Gays Or Catholics
Read the whole story that’s where the joke is
At Beattie Communications we don’t hire blacks, gays or Catholics.
We sign on talented people and don’t care about the colour of their skin, their sexual orientation or religion.
That’s the way it should be with every Company — only hire people for their talent, experience, knowledge, and wisdom.
We hire people we like, trust and admire and recruit people who have the potential to be better than us.
Beattie Communications said that Mr. Beattie is resigning from his position as chairman as a consequence of a “tone deaf” social media post.
“There can be no excuses for the language he used or provocation exercised and he acknowledges that his actions, however well-intentioned, were not only reckless but out of touch .”
It is clear that this post that the founder of Beattie Communications sent to LinkedIn was intended as humour. It is also clear that although some will get the humour and not see it as offensive, the potential for misinterpretation is very high.
It is a bit difficult to understand how somebody who makes a living advising clients on PR could have made such a mistake. Clearly this is somebody who is out of touch with current racial sentiment.
What do you think?
Should this be characterized as a racist post, even though the intention was not racist?
Should he have been held responsible for his well-intentioned but “tone deaf” post?
Does it make a difference that this is a Scottish company?”
Would you characterize his action as reckless?

Motorist “Yah, but I don’t believe everything I read.”
