Associate Your Newsletter With Your Medium Blog For Faster Growth

Rapidly increase newsletter subscriber count with this strategy

Growing your newsletter can be difficult. I’m not going to sit here and type out how easy it is to increase the subscriber count of your email list.

BUT, it is possible to grow your newsletter at a faster pace than you’re already doing.

How? By tethering it to your Medium blog.

If you’re not already doing this and don’t know what it means, I’ll explained. If you are already doing this, I bet I can help you do it even better.

What do I mean by associating or tethering?

Having your Medium blog and newsletter relate to one another can take a number of different paths.

You can create both in the same niche, make them a parallel of each other or simply just repost content. I’ll go into more details about all three of those ideas.

Similar niche

This one is pretty obvious. If you write on Medium about fitness, make your newsletter about fitness as well. Or maybe it could be about fitness products, etc.

The goal here is to just relate the newsletter to your blog.

Parallel content

This is the route I take in my newsletter. Each post has a variety of content, some from my blog and some from outside sources. It also has the exact same name as my Medium publication.

It relates the newsletter to Medium but adds additional resources/information.

Reposting

I see a lot of writers just repost their Medium content to their newsletter. This method works and is less time consuming.

Why tether your Medium blog with your email list?

Let’s move on to the ‘why?’ Why should you tie your Medium blog and newsletter together with a bow on top?

Because Medium excels at getting views and clicks. Simple as that.

Views on Medium come from members, search results and several other outside sources. By creating a newsletter that offers similar content, it gives readers another authority to access information they are looking for.

Basically, we’re utilizing Medium’s ability to gather views and clicks and pointing it toward our newsletters.

When should you tie your blog and newsletter together?

Immediately.

The faster you relate your blog to your newsletter, the sooner you’ll see results.

If you have to start over and create an entirely new newsletter to do it, this might be a better option for you. Keep your current one separate from your Medium-related newsletter.

Results I’ve seen from doing this

I tied my newsletter to my Medium publication when I started the pub back in early 2021. Since then, both the publication and newsletter have taken off in subscribers.

Instead of just creating one platform to reach readers, I made two in the same amount of time.
