Ask Lewis: 6 Tips About BioEnergetic Wellness

Merging Qi healing with self-assessment and personal growth

By Steve Weinberg

Healing through touch is a merging of creative expression and the “power” that comes through the desire to serve. This power is a reflection of the life force, Chi, logos, Tao, or divine energy that fills the universe.

The Way Touch Heals

Generally speaking, touch heals in one of two ways;

1) structurally

2) energetically.

Structural Healing

Therapeutic bodywork and traditional Swedish Massage are the most common forms of structured bodywork. When mainstream physicians and academic publications inquire about bodywork and its effect on pathophysiology, this is the type they are generally drawn to.

This is not surprising since, in its scope and philosophical foundations, structural bodywork is the most Western and rational of the various types of touch. To be effective in the application of structural bodywork, you must have an understanding of body mechanics, posture, pathology, anatomy, and physiology, especially the names and key parts of the muscles, bones, and nerves. Structured Bodywork practitioners who also have an interest in the connection between chronic structural problems and psychological factors will require specialized training in what is commonly called psychotherapeutic bodywork. This will require you to integrate emotional and spiritual counseling into your course of study.

Benefits of Structural Bodywork

¥ Improvement of body alignment

¥ Increased circulation

¥ Pain reduction

¥ Increased sensory awareness

¥ reduced stress

¥ Increased flexibility of the joints

Note: As you begin to practice structured bodywork techniques it is easy to become so focused on the details and specifics of the technique that compassion and intuition get lost in the process. Always balance knowledge of the body with expression of the heart through compassion.

BioEnergetic Healing

Virtually all energetic healing systems work with what Dr. Randolph Stone, the founder of Polarity Therapy calls “The Wireless Anatomy.” This is that part of us that exists before, through, and around all the other anatomical systems. It underlies and supports the nervous system, and the circulatory system and can be addressed through touch, visualization, homeopathic remedies, the inserting of needles into specific points, and even through inhaling aromatic oils or pressing on specific reflexes on the body. It is the life force that exists in each of us. Also known as Chi, Ki, Prana, and Qi, it is the source of all healing. Energetic healing does not require hands-on contact. It works totally on a vibrational or energetic level, as opposed to a structural level, and its purpose is to release the body’s self-healing energy wherever it may be blocked.

Benefits of Energetic Healing:

  • Greater sense of spiritual awareness
  • Increased self-esteem
  • Brings inspiration and motivation to consciousness
  • Increased sensory awareness
  • Reduced stress
  • Reduced pain

Increases healing of fractures, or broken bones and all injuries in which movement or manipulation of the joint is not recommended.

Note: Energetic healing techniques are used when a person is so sensitive to touch, that virtually any bodywork technique would create pain or discomfort. It is also healing for those under great emotional stress.

Tools For Healing Touch

Touch is the first response we have when we need to heal. What do you do when you bang your head? You rub it. Healing touch is a key element to achieving and keeping good health. If you are not being touched, hugged, or receiving some bodywork regularly, you are doing yourself a great disservice. But what is the best technique? There are many effective approaches to healing touch. Before you choose the one that will best serve your needs, it is of great value to understand some of the more popular bodywork and hands-on-healing techniques that are available.

BioEnergetic Wellness encompasses various approaches and practices that focus on the interconnectedness of the mind, body, emotions, and spirit to achieve overall well-being.

A BioEnergetic Wellness Facilitator can help a client

1. Assess illness or choose a wellness practice by testing muscles for strength and weakness.

2. Evaluate structural, chemical, and mental aspects of health.

3. Develop the best nutrition and dietary practices.

4. Move in a healthier direction, with health-building tips and positive reinforcement

5. Reduce stress

Here are some BioEnergetic Wellness practices:

1. Nutritional Holism: This involves paying close attention to diet and nutrition as a key aspect of overall health. Nutritional holism emphasizes the importance of consuming whole, unprocessed foods and avoiding substances that might negatively impact health. This approach also considers the individual’s unique needs and focuses on whole foods, nutrient balance, and personalized dietary plans to support overall health.

2. Mind-Body Balancing: This approach recognizes the powerful connection between mental and physical health. Practices such as muscle testing, meditation, mindfulness, yoga, and tai chi can be used to promote relaxation, stress reduction, and overall mental well-being.

3. Energy Healing: Techniques pressure point therapy, and Healing Touch, focus on balancing and channeling energy to promote healing and well-being.

4. Structural alignment to promote proper nervous system function, aiming to improve overall health and well-being.

5. Holistic Counseling: This approach combines Biofeedback with holistic practices such as mindfulness, meditation, and relaxation techniques to address mental and emotional challenges.

6. Holistic Fitness: This involves a well-rounded approach to physical activity that includes various forms of exercise, such as cardiovascular workouts, strength training, flexibility exercises, and more.

These are just a few examples of the many types of BioEnergetic Wellness health practices available. Keep in mind that the effectiveness of these practices can vary from person to person, and it’s important to work with qualified practitioners who can tailor approaches to individual needs and circumstances.

The Takeaway

A skilled BioEnergetic Wellness Facilitator can muscle test for many factors when deciding on the best way to approach educating a person about health.

Health must be approached from a holistic standpoint. Many times when we think of health, we think of physical health — lack of illness or disease, weight, fitness levels, etc. Yet the overall health of a human being, family, or community also includes mental, emotional, spiritual, and environmental well-being. Health includes a balance of each of these things.
