Asian TikTok Influencer says Asian Men Want to Date Outside Their Race
5 Dating Tips for Shy Asian Men to Approach Black Women
There is a stigma going around that irks me to my core. If you love Asian men, you are fetishizing them. If you are online, you will see aggressive negative comments and nicknames. “Korea boo”, which is someone who loves South Korean culture.
Unfortunately, people feel the need to label and criticize others for their preferences and interests. Everyone is entitled to their preferences. It is unfair to judge or shame someone for their preferences. Let us be reminded and encouraged that everyone should be treated with respect and kindness, regardless of race or ethnicity. It is never okay to fetishize or objectify someone based on their race or ethnicity.
I am the child of an interracial couple who has been together for 45+ years. My parents instilled in me the belief that love knows no boundaries, including race. My father, a steel drummer, met my mother, a Peace Corps volunteer, on the island of St. Lucia in the 1970s. Despite the societal challenges they faced, they fell in love and eventually married. In an era when interracial love was controversial, their families quietly distanced themselves from them. They experienced discriminatory acts against them, such as when traveling over the Canadian border. They had their entire car searched, including the tires taken off.
I think most of us have grown up in a culture with people that resemble us. Sadly, we were probably taught to marry “our own”, or have had that subtly implied by our cultural environments. I hate this for us, because times have changed, and I am here for this cultural shift.
Asian Male TikTok Influencer Discusses Interracial Dating
Meet Mr. Zaddy Yang
@mr_zaddy_yang, a TikTok influencer with over 44k followers, recently made a video discussing the stereotypes Asian men have faced in the dating world. The video garnered over 15k views, and the comments section was flooded with responses from brown women. In the video, @mr_zaddy_yang admits Asian men had difficulty finding partners outside their race but reassured viewers they are now open to dating people outside their own culture.
The comments section was lit up with responses from brown women, with @mr_zaddy_yang assuring them that Asian men are indeed interested in interracial relationships, including all shapes and sizes.
Here are some comments:
It was striking to me that most people commenting in the section were single, attractive women with no Asian male prospects presenting. I wondered where all the Asian men were open to dating outside their race. I belong to an Asian Men Black Woman's group on Facebook, where most active members are couples or brown women. There are Asian men in the group from all over the world who have access to many beautiful women but remain silent. This raises questions about the truth of the claim that Asian men are interested in interracial relationships.
The Lack of Blasian Couples in Dramas (And Why It’s Important)
I would like to use this opportunity to address a topic that is important to me as an Entertainment Influencer @klovewithstefani: the lack of representation of Blasian couples or brown people in international media.
As a fan of BL dramas, Cdramas, Kdramas, and other foreign films and music, I have noticed a significant absence of representation of people of color in these works. Despite the large and passionate international fan base, particularly from brown-er countries, there is a lack of representation in these entertainment industries and streaming platforms progressing there has been progress in the representation of same-sex relationships in the LGBTQ+ community through the rise of BL dramas, there is still a long way to go. I hope to see more inclusivity in the future, including the depiction of Blasian couples in romantic storylines.
