As Colleges Move Classes Online, Families Rebel Against the Cost is the Headline in the NYT
Reasons to celebrate worldwide

What if students who feel ripped off start to screen-record their classes and sell them online?
When Apple brought out the phones, everyone copied them. Now everyone has a smartphone, some costing just $70. Maybe college degrees will become like that.
If there is a fee rebate, will it be cheaper for all the world, too?
If Medium and NYT can be paid for and read worldwide, why not classes at US universities?
So, families feel they are paying for “glorified Skype”
They feel they have ordered prime rib, pre-paid for prime rib, and have been served hamburgers instead.
The families are talking about how they are feeling. Feelings aren’t facts. What are the facts, that might not have occurred to the average reader of the article/Americans?
- The world’s greatest colleges have moved online.
- Who’s allowed to study, and from where? Unfortunately, only students who have already secured admission can attend these online classes.
Why can’t the students be global students? Anybody from anywhere?
- In that case, what should the tuition fee be? If there’s a rebate, will it become cheaper for the rest of the world, too? Or more expensive?
- What about a global admission test? That should differentiate between a paid membership and a student who’s cleared a high academic bar to enter.
- Students could still visit the US and write the exams, staying and residing as citizens of their own countries without having to live in the US.
- Is America ready to share the secrets it imparts to its students to the students of the world?
- For science and technology it might not. In the interest of national security.
- What about Art? Architecture? Software? Biotechnology? Vaccines?
- What if students who feel ripped off start to screen-record their classes and sell them online?
What if other countries have a college online as well?
- Could American students study there, living in America?
- Then the Americans would travel abroad for their exams.
Coronavirus is going to flip everything about education.
- Any English-speaking teacher in any country has a great advantage now. International colleges, spread your wings.
- Students, choose where you’ll land and who you will fly with.
- Maybe it will be like when Apple brought out the phones, and everyone everywhere copied them, and now everyone has a smartphone. Maybe college degrees will become like that.
- Maybe America does not realize how much better they are at education. Even an exercise video out of America is better. What is the value of a skill?
